Mullen was never the same after that moment. Absolutely killed his Florida career.

He never recovered.

He went to the studio real quick after that.

That kid probably made a lot of big positive plays in his career, but that is what he’ll be remembered for. It’s a sad truth, one “oh shite” wipes out 100 atta boys.

One of my favorite in game threads.

If I recall LSU was severely undermanned yet playing very tough but it just wasn’t enough.

Then the shoe gave new life and a kicker managed to drill a long FG through some stiff fog for the win.

An all time moment because LSU started off as a whipping boy in the thread and nearly all who weren’t Gatas were cheering the victory. It was great.

That game thread is incredible.

It was wild in there.

If LSU beats Florida in 2023, it will be 8-2 over the last decade. Big yikes.

Let’s be nicer to our Florida brethren. If the shoe were on the other foot, I would hope they would go easy on us.

Mullen's record at Florida before the shoe throw: 29-6
After the shoe throw: 5-9

I seem to recall a lot of Florida fans saying he gave up lots of big plays before that, would flex after making a tackle even if it was a big gain, etc. I don't think he was that popular among the fans even before that game.

Probably my finest, well-timed post ever. I quickly posted the Austin Powers who-throws-a-shoe gif. It may have been the most fitting usage of that gif in history

I didn't see the game myself, but I read several articles about it afterward. One article said that Florida accidentally celebrated when they missed their own long kick at the end of the game, because they couldn't see through the fog when their kick moved wide of the goalposts.
