I still think UGA v Bama, if Bama loses they're still in over UGA because theyll say Bama would be favored against the other 3 playoff teams and UGA wouldn't if you look at the body of work.

Fair or not.

Imagine the outrage, not just from UGA fans, but from college football fans everywhere.

If this happens, don't turn off the TV because they'll have to announce the pending expansion to a 6-team format soon after.

The playoff committee would be dissolved if they left out one of the blue bloods who won their conference simply because a non-conference winner passed an eye test.
Hint: If they win it all the eye test was the correct test to use to evaluate them.

Not one soul can deny Alabama was the correct choice last year for the 4th spot.

If you really want to actually think about it, look how many times a “controversial pick” for the 4 spot won it all. The committee has done quite well in that regard.

Sort of like Ohio State did last year.
And this year. Getting blown out by 5-5 Purdue means it doesn’t matter if you win the B1G you aren’t getting in over undefeated, maybe even 1-loss Notre Dame or a 1-loss Big 12 team. Much less a 1-loss Alabama.

What if by some miracle, kick-6 or tip-6 happen to cause Auburn to beat Alabama? 1 loss Alabama drops to #4? Then Alabama loses to Georgia. That would be the only way. Even if Georgia beats Alabama, they would still get in as one of the 4 best teams with 1 loss. I don't count out Ohio State beating Michigan yet. Don't count out Syracuse beating Notre Dame at the neutral site. Crazy things can still happen.

Alabama will beat Georgia, and even if they don't, they're easily one of the four best teams. The precedent is already there.

I often wonder why the hell we play our regular season, or why we have a conference championship at all
Then you're extremely short sighted...oh, checkout Georgia's SEC Champions ring...so what you're saying is if you aren't national champions, nothing else matters?....only Alabama is allowed that thought process at this time.

Well let me explain it to you this way. Had Wisconsin beaten OSU last year, you would have been left out.

And no one on Earth, and certainly not that committee, really believed Wisconsin was a better team than Alabama.

PSU had 2 losses though. I don't think the committee will put us over UM if we both have 1 loss. We need to either win out, ND to lose to Syracuse or UGA to lose to GT.

Exactly right. If it were really just based on four best teams, Wisconsin would not have been considered even had they won the B1G last year. No one would have favored them against any of the four teams chosen, especially Bama. Conference championships matter to this committee if all else is relatively even (records, Power 5, Schedule strength etc).

The committee clearly thinks Bama is the best team by a mile. Table the #1 ranking, think about how they ranked LSU after the drubbing in BR. The Tigers weren’t competitive at all, and they dropped them 4 spots, in front of three 1-loss Power 5 teams.

My point is, Bama doesn’t need to win the SECCG. I think they’re at least 2 TD’s better than UGA but it’s not do or die for Bama. ND at 12-0 is not better than Bama at 12-1. Remember, these rankings are based on eye test, and not one person on the committee thinks Michigan, ND, or Clemson is better than Bama.

ND will be left out, because they don’t have a conference title game.

Honestly, I'm dubious that the committee is completely oblivious to public opinion. Though I think Bama is far and away the best team (though even the best team can get upset) I can't see them leaving out an undefeated Notre Dame, especially if Michigan wins out, as they do in this scenario. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I have my doubts. They'd leave out a 1 loss Michigan first, but that, too, means they ignore public opinion in order to leave out a 1 loss B10 champion. Bama would get the NY6 and posterity would debate the topic for years.

We're not leaving our children a better world.

Clearly, the best 2 teams in the country are Alabama and Clemson. After that? Could Oklahoma score 40 on Michigan or Notre Dame? Washington State has 1 loss. They are in a really weak conference. Who has Notre Dame played other than Michigan that is a powerhouse this year? If Michigan gets beat by Ohio State, Ohio State's performances in their other games has been marginal at best.

Even a 1 loss Clemson and Alabama deserve to be in the playoffs. If Georgia somehow beats Alabama, do they get in if Michigan or Notre Dame lose? If they stay unbeaten, Georgia is off to the Sugar Bowl to play the winner of Big 12.

Even this late in the season, there is too much football left to make a prediction to the final 4.

It is why we love college football.

Didn’t read but there’s no doubt Bama will be in if they lose SEC champ game.

They will be without a doubt the best 1 loss team in nation. Now if Auburn beats em then GA in SECCG, it’s a no go. But just lose the SECCG, they’ll be in at #4.

Take real football ignorance to not know this.

And to expound, if Bama wins SECCG, there will be only one SEC team in the CFP in Bama.

If GA wins, there will be 2.

Better not lose to Ga Tech, they're about due for a win against you.
