Never said Alabama wasn't one of the four best. Just you would have the B1G champ whose only loss was to ND in the opener. They've mauled almost everyone else they've played.

You'd have undefeated ND and undefeated Clemson.

The outcry you'd get would be thunderous if you left those teams out in favor of a one loss non conference champion.

It's not gonna happen, but it's interesting to consider.

Georgia would get left out. The committee will compare our SEC champ game loss to your 36-16 loss at LSU. They will also take Tua's health into consideration. Bottom line is they will chose the 4 best teams, not the 4 most deserving.

That's simply not true. If that were so, why play the year-end basketball tourney or the college world Series?

ND isn't even in a conference.

Nowhere does it say they have to pick 4 conference champions. The committee picks the 4 best teams. How can you not understand this?

Alabama beat two Conference Champions in the playoffs last year.

...and would have beaten the rest of them, if necessary.....but they weren't one of the best 4 teams in the country! ...WTF!

It isn't about finding a way one of the four best teams can't be included just because people have develop severe insecurities and PTSD from the beatings.

I often wonder why the hell we play our regular season, or why we have a conference championship at all

If Georgia beats Bama in a close game, both get in.

Who gets left out then? Definitely not ND or Clemson if they're undefeated. Then it would come down to big 10 champ Michigan with 1 loss(ND) or Bama 1 loss

The first question is asinine. The second one has merit now that we have a (limited) playoff and the SEC has the reputation that it now does. It made more sense in the 90s when we started it than it does now.

ETA: I will say that if the playoff continues to expand your first question starts to become something that we will all start to question to a greater degree.

It was more unlikely Bama would be left out last year.

Bama would have to have a bad loss to be left out at this point

Oh this should be good. What is the goal of the playoff committee?

Please say money.

Not finding the four best teams.

Please say to find the four best teams.

If UGA beat Bama in the SECC, which they won't, and ND, Clemson, and Michigan win out, then Bama would be left out. While UGA would have a worse loss than Bama, UGA would also would have better wins and an SECC. This won't happen since UGA won't beat Bama though.

You did not answer the question. I asked what it's about. You said what it isn't. I know you aren't this dense are you?

I think when the door closes and it's just the selectors, they are doing the best to put who they think are the four best teams in the playoff. So I ask you again, what is their goal? You've only deflected thus far.
