I've spent a lot of time in SE Mississippi for work and I wouldn't mind living there.

It has its downsides like any area, but very salt of the earth people, lots of opportunities for outdoor recreation, great food, Mississippi's local beer lineup is vastly underrated, and good proximity to NOLA and whatever 3rd Coast beach you want to visit.

Glad you're back home OP.

I took a job and moved to South Florida (Boca Raton) in 2014. But, I moved back to Alabama after a year. South Florida has some good qualities, but the quality of life there is way overrated.

It’s impossible to get far enough away from Miami

The thing with Miami is this: if you can afford to live your life east of A1A, it’s a great place…but for normal people, like me, it’s tough..we paid $1200 per month for my son to go to school, (high school), because the public schools are, well, rough. Real estate is outrageous. Lotta crime. Nobody speaks English. The only good thing about living there was having close access to the Keys…

I'm in the Hattiesburg area. Love it here. Just a hop skip and jump away from the coast, new orleans (if i'm feeling bold), jackson (the burbs, not the shithole city)

Only on Tigerdroppings does Gulfport, Mississippi win out over Miami, Florida.

One time I stumbled into a moving van and ended up living at its final destination.

Miami has some nice areas but is not really all that.

Honestly, I think the Tampa-St Pete area is much better than S. Fla. But that's just my preference.

Let's be honest. Central time zone Florida is Alabama. And I love it.

There aren't a lot of places that south Mississippi is better than, but Miami is definitely one of them. Good job!

Is pretty nice imo.

Not sure how it is living there, but great beaches. Downtown Mobile is a nice place to visit and grab breakfast too.

I live in Santa Barbara. It’s absolute paradise. We have the hottest women, best beaches and the weather is unreal (it’s sunny / clear more than 300 days per year).

I mean I had a blast in Oxford getting my undergrad degree but I can’t imagine giving this up.

I love Miami, but I was also born here and know it better than most.
