Georgia wins the SEC...

TN will beat Missouri, South Carolina, and Vandy.

The biggest thing that would probably prevent TN from going besides losing is if Georgia loses to LSU.

Crazy. If TCU loses to Texas this weekend, it almost works out to a T.

They're #5 in the ranking not exactly a revolutionary idea to see them make it.

It more has to do with what is laid out in front of them, more so than the ranking. TN plays no body for the last 3 games.

Big 10 winner will go.
Georgia will go.
Other than that its probably the easiest path in recent history to the playoffs at the point in the season. (3-4 games left)

The top 6 will probably end being some combination of...

13-0 Georgia
13-0 Michigan or Ohio State (neither one is going to lose to any other team besides each other)
11-1 Michigan or Ohio State (whichever team loses the H2H)
12-1 Pac 12 Champion (let's say Oregon)
12-1 Big 12 Champion TCU
11-1 Tennessee

If Oregon wins the Pac-12 with a 12-1 record and TCU wins the Big 12 with a 12-1 record, I don't know how 3-5 would shake out. I'd guess Tennessee would be the odd one out, though.

Most likely they get in and get wrecked by Ohio State.

100 percent. I just know it's happening. My orange spider senses been tingling this week. There are not 4 better teams than us in CFB. No freakin way.

According to ESPN there is about a 68% chance Tennessee makes the playoffs. Surprisingly, our number actually went up after the Georgia game.

I still think TN is better than Oregon. Both teams got dominated, but TN didn't let Georgia score almost 50 on them. 49-3 ouch. Plus I think OR still gets another loss with #25 Washington, #13 Utah, or #8 USC in Pac 12 Championship.

Same thing with Texas - TCU, Longhorns are favored this weekend. Plus TCU will play Baylor the following week and Big 12 championship game against Texas again...for 2 losses.

I am having a tough time seeing TN not get in the Top 4.

At least one team - UGA UT or LSU - will trip up and lose an SEC game. Always happens. My bet is UT.

LOL. Do you want to bet on that? I'll bet you turning into an Auburn fan that TN doesn't lose 1 of the next 3 games.

Rain worked in tennessee's favor on that game. 24-3 at the half.

Oregon and TCU could lose.
Clemson and OSU/Mich loser need to impress.

Tennessee could be in.
But it isn't in their control.
They are scoreboard watching.

Oregon losing their first game of the year to the best team in the country won't mean much if they don't lose to anyone else and win their conference. Conference championships matter immensely to the committee and can absolutely be the deciding factor when choosing between two teams. Oregon and Tennessee have a loss to a mutual opponent and the same regular season record, but Oregon has a conference championship and a better overall record. If Oregon wins out, they get in over Tennessee.

Same thing with TCU. They might lose, completely agree there. But until they do (and it's not at all guaranteed that they will lose), TCU is getting into the playoffs over Tennessee. 13-0 conference champion > 11-1 division runner up every day of the week (see Clemson the entire time the playoff has been around). 12-1 TCU vs. 11-1 Tennessee would be an interesting discussion.

Tennessee having a front-loaded schedule hurts them. The CFP Committee has always looked at rankings as "what have you done for me lately." Tennessee not having a ranked opponent left on their schedule and little chance of making the SEC Championship means their fate is entirely in the hands of other teams.

The problem with Clemson is that they don't play anyone and are ranked #10. NC in championship is the best it gets.

Still think TN would be favored over them.

TN doesn't get in if LSU beats Georgia.
