Yes, if there was shite talk or rivalry implications, then it might hype them up.

I could see this developing into a rivalry. OU coaches, players, and fans prefer rivals that are strong. Nebraska was our biggest in conference rival forever. Totally different rivalry than TexAss. With the Big Red of the North - there was mutual respect. It was something to behold. There was good natured smack talk, but it was respectful. I can definitely see OU and Alabama developing that same thing. Games that will be hard fought, with the winner getting a congratulations and good luck. We hate TexAss. There isn't a school out there that I want them to beat (well maybe Notre Dame). Unless it serves the Sooners for Bama to lose, I don't root against them. The stat from the tweet about weeks combined at #1 says a lot - and respect is definitely deserved for both programs.

Bama is getting by on the really good play of Simpson and a improving defense.

OU can win this game, and it wouldn't be huge upset.

Bama isn't the 1968 Green Bay Packers.

They have an elite defense. We have an unbalanced offense that hits complete quarters of ineffectiveness. Defense has played great but how long can they keep winning games for us because they have won every game for Alabama post Georgia.

Bama cannot run the ball.

Their hopes are on Ty Simpson's shoulder.

I told Bama fans last year they wouldn't be able to run the ball with Grubb. They were all "But washington had a 1000 yard back in 15 games herp derp"

In the SEC if you are not worried about your opponent you might just be crazy. Any given Saturday.
This is definitely truer now than any time I can recall in the past. Every SEC matchup seems to go down to the wire - it's a drudge match every single week, and this one will be no different.

We've had some problems with a few things the last couple games that if cleaned up I think we win, if not I think we will lose.

1. Dropsies. All our receivers (TE and RBs) included.
2. Ty throwing missiles to wide open guys instead of giving them a easy catch.
3. Ty missing on deep balls.
4. Stopping speed rushers.

Clean those up and I think we will be in good shape, D has been playing well. I have no confidence our run game will change, it's shite.

1,195 yards, 233 attempts, 5.13 ypc, 16 tds

That'll do, herp derp

Alabama has one of the worst run games in the SEC, in the nation really. So I will worry about every game. Almost every game this season has been close, so I expect this one to be too.

Washington was 102nd in rushing attempts per game.

What does AI say about it?

quote:

Yes, Ryan Grubb has faced criticism regarding the run game during his time with both the Seattle Seahawks (NFL) and his current role with the Alabama Crimson Tide (college). He has publicly acknowledged and taken blame for some of the issues.
With the Seattle Seahawks (NFL)
During his brief stint as the offensive coordinator for the Seahawks in 2024, the team struggled with establishing a consistent running game.
Public Accountability: Grubb explicitly stated, "I'll own that," in reference to the lack of run game touches in a loss to the New York Giants.
Performance and Firing: A balanced offense never materialized, and issues with the offensive line, including injuries and player retirements, were noted as contributing factors. Despite an endorsement from quarterback Geno Smith, Grubb was fired after one season, with head coach Mike Macdonald citing a difference in offensive vision.
With the Alabama Crimson Tide (College)
Grubb returned to the college level to be the offensive coordinator for the University of Alabama under head coach Kalen DeBoer, where the run game has also been a point of contention.
Ongoing Struggles: The run game has been described as struggling, particularly against Power 4 opponents.
Differing Opinions: There has been public discussion and differing takes between Grubb and players on the nature of the problem. Quarterback Ty Simpson suggested the issue might be mental, relating to confidence, while Grubb maintained it was not a mental issue but rather about physical execution and winning at the point of attack.
Focus on Improvement: The coaching staff and players have expressed a commitment to improving the run game, with Grubb noting the necessity of a strong ground presence for winning championships in the SEC.

Enjoy having receivers at RB

They were #1 in passing ypg. They didn't need to dominate on the ground. They just needed to keep defenses honest, which they did.

Other than Parker Brailsford, the OL talent isn't suited to run Grubb's offense.
Patience lil' bro, recruiting will take care of it.

We’re also not as fortunate to play OU when Mateer was at 20% like the Trannys in Austin.

Small dick energy.

I guess it was Mateer playing on their vaunted defense too?

That defense held up for 3 quarters of being on the field constantly.
