I keep seeing LSU fans say they can't pay Kelly's buyout

Even though it's less than what A&M paid to fire Jimbo Fisher. Have they heard of the sunk cost fallacy? Do they think any A&M fans are regretting that decision right now?
Just curious where this idea comes from. Can they not afford it?????
I'll hang up and listen.

All that money for a buyout. How much of that comes from the NIL pot?

Our collective is from 2 to 6 in the country. We have plenty of engaged billionaire alumni too. Do they want to pay 60 million to a pos no. Will they if needed yes.

A&M will end up with 4 losses like they do every year. Not sure what’s different

Money would be better spent trying to buy a bunch of 5 stars + transfers and hope it works out than to pay his buyout and start over.
The Jimbo situation was different IMO. Culture was pretty much shot, and Jimbo was unwilling to let someone else have 100% control of the offense despite the modern day offense being light years ahead of what he was teaching. It was obvious he could have top 5 talent and still frick it up royally.
It seems like Kelly would do what it takes to make the changes to win. He is just a below average to bad gameday coach. Always has been and always will be. I’ve also never seen his teams be physical compared to the way a lot of teams are the the SEC.
That being said, I don’t think the LSU/Kelly situation is totally in shambles, I just think they have been spoiled by some really great outlier seasons and the standard is ridiculously high there. A 9-3 season isn’t a failure at LSU.

My LSU co worker just says LSU doesn't have any money.

I mean, we both just got the shite beat out of us and they still have Texas left. The difference being of course they skull drug our arse at their place. But so did Jimbo.
I do agree with the sunk cost fallacy, but I'm just not sure A&M is the best analogy to go with there. Hell, I would take Elko over Kelly right now, but it isn't a given he going he would ever win 10 games here (or there).

The discussion is so stupid.
Jimbo got fired after a 5-7 and 7-6 year in year 6.
Only once did Jimbo have 4 or less wins and that was 2020.
He never won 10 games there.
Let them buy out a coach that wins 10 games a year in year 3. It is hard to make aggie look sane by comparison but lsu is gonna try their best.

While needing help, you’re still in the hunt. Why would you be talking about this till it’s actually over?

BREAKING NEWS: Texas A&M has more money than LSU. Congratulations on that discovery...

Of course A&M fans are happy right now as we look to be on track for at least a 9-3 regular season, which would be an improvement over all of Jimbo years except 2020. But that’s not the main reason we should be happy, it’s the first part of your quote, the sunk cost fallacy, we knew Jimbo wasn’t going to get us there and was just wasting time/resources. The new coach gives new hope to the program. That’s what LSU should be more concerned with as well.
In A&M’s case (and I suspect LSU’s as well) it can eventually start to cost you more when fan support dries up because the fanbase is apathetic and becomes disinterested because there’s no excitement around the program. That could eventually lead to costing the school more than just pulling the plug and starting over fresh. That’s what A&M decided was its best course. I doubt it’s in LSU’s best interest yet, but if they have another 8-9 win year, or worse, it probably would be.

First.... the frickers posting here aren't paying for shite. Not me and not any of the others.
It is our opinion that Woodward would not pay it. He might. He might not. Seeing how long we held onto Les Miles tells me LSU will wait it out for a few years.
I'm wondering though if there is some kind of morality clause in his contract. It's widely known he banged his real estate agent. Maybe we could work that angle.

Also, our record will be equal to or better than aggie at the end of the year.

If they're a little short, they can always go make a withdrawal.

The buyout would be close to 1/3 of the annual athletic budget.
A&M fired Jimbo and still hasn't won squat. Kind of early to be beating your chest about this.

Y'all have a higher athletic budget than they do. The money is there to do it for any top 50 program.
But it's hard to shitcan a dude who goes 9-3. Jimbo Fisher went 19-15 in his last 3 seasons. Makes it an easier decision.
