I just realized Florida and Tennessee don’t play this year.

That is a damn crime. And responsible parties should be ashamed. Especially with Florida being good again. Great rivalry game. Shame

WTF? Florida plays auburn this Saturday and Tennessee plays Kennesaw State. They both have already played 2 previous games. \

Just coming out of a blackout?

It's crazy. It's almost like it was in the SEC before the 1992 expansion...you know, when they played 7 times between 1970 and 1990...or when they played each other 8 times between 1940 and 1970. It is a contrived "rivalry".

Looking at those numbers more closely...from 1940 to 1990, they played each other a total of 14 times. That's 15 games in 50 years. During that same period of time, Tennessee and Georgia Tech played each other 35 times. So in half a century of football, Tennessee played Georgia Tech 2.5 times more than they played Florida. This past Saturday, Tennessee played Georgia Tech for only the 2nd time since 1987. So, they renewed a traditional rivalry, and dropped an orchestrated one.

There are some games that were important that won’t get played yearly.

I think they will still add teams and this conference will have to be divided again.

Tennessee has won 3 of the last 4 against Florida.
