Why shouldn't we. It was awarded to Bama by the Coaches in 1973. Official list of all Coaches poll champions.

These "how many real national titles does Alabama have" are becoming less and less relevant with each passing year that Alabama adds yet another NC. At this point, who gives a shite?

Alabama ran things a lot in the past.

Alabama is running things now.

Most likely, with only a few exceptions, Alabama laps whoever your team is multiple times in championships (conference and national), so these arguments just come across as petty jealously at this point.

I just read that LSU used to wear leather helmets while playing football.

Wow - that's both funny and pathetic. What kind of protection is that supposed to give??

But relevant. Its just the way it was done. And the equipment has evolved since then, just like the way NCs are determined....

Alabama 1941 is the real only ridiculous one they claim.

They really shouldn't even claim it.

Oh look, it's a resident Big Ten genius that follows around Alabama fans on the internet.

Solve this one for me then Sherlock. In 1977, Alabama and Notre Dame had 2 common opponents, USC and Ole Miss. They both beat a really good USC team but Alabama blew out an Ole Miss team that upset Notre Dame that year. Alabama's only loss that year came by a touchdown in the road opener at Nebraska. Alabama cruised through the rest of their schedule and blew out Ohio State 35-6 in the Sugar Bowl yet #5 Notre Dame leapfrogged #3 Alabama despite all of the above. Explain that one to me. (this should be good)

Payback for 1966 bitch. ND has no legit claim to the 1966 title. It is rightfully Bama's. No rational argument can be made otherwise. Yet ND claims it (sad and pathetic), and Bama doesn't

bullshite. I don't see any SEC teams on Notre Dame's schedule. They didn't play anyone good. Six teams in the SEC could have beaten freaking Purdue.

Yeah I don't really get it either. Most Alabama fans realize this, but then you have your gumps who shout 14 and who say things like TJ Yeldon is the best running back they've ever seen.

Related to gumps counting national championships, this video might be my favorite on YouTube. It's around the 28 second point LINK
