I've been here fighting that fight but have lost hope. Not sure if this board will ever be for discussion again

There must be a lot of Washington state
stories about him or maybe he just went to Vegas when out west

Are you talking about the time he stuck bananas in his butt?
Posted on 1/22/21 at 10:16 am to dstone12
Yep, form 1997-2007 it was bad at Alabama, not even close to the standard. Mal Moore fixed it....

Mike Price
I'll tell you a story---may not be the hilarity
you're looking for---but a story.
You know the fickle finger of fate is
an odd creature that holds its own mysteries and
no one can either confirm or deny how a little
twist or turn might affect the future.
Along the centuries, had things not worked out precisely the way they did with one of your ancestors, YOU would not be here today.
Mike Price never coached a game for Alabama, thanks
to his apparent problem with alcohol and obvious
lack of understanding in the attention on his elevated position, coming from Washington State
to Alabama.
We'll never know had Price coached at Alabama during
the punishment/probation period, how things
would have turned out---perhaps he could have hung on and emerged for a long term stay.
What we do know is Mike Shula was hired, then
fired at the end of 2006---and just over a month
later, with just the right timing, guess who
became and remains Alabama's coach.
Would it have all happened had Mike Price not gone
to a strip club and had that night in the hotel ?
No way to know for sure---but my guess is no.

SEC title in 1999 and three 10 win seasons in that timeframe, but yeah, worst 11 year record in my lifetime

The day that that happened had to be the low point for the program.the only positive was nick Saban came because they wanted a hard arse
Saban didn't show up until after the Shula years

I don't believe that story. It's like the McDonald's bags filled with cash at UT. Completely sensationalized BS.

He's your gay coach, so don't blame me.

but had those disappointing years from 1997-2006 not happened, Mal Moore and Alabama might have settled for less than Nick Saban.

your comment was the first time I ever heard or read anything about bananas up the arse. I mean, to even consider that at all is deviant

I feel your pain. The forum landscape is growing desolate indeed. I use to wander over to the "TigerFan" forum back in the day. When red55 and others could and would actually talk about substance. They were older fans and much more knowledgeable and sensible than what's being served over here as college football talk.

This is why I was happy with Shula, he wasn't embarrassing the program
Shula did a fine job steering Alabama through probation years, bookgate excepted (which wasn’t anything he directly did).
2005 was a very good coaching job. Of course the other years could’ve been a little better, but given scholarship limits and how it worked out in the end, Alabama fans complaining about the Shula years come off as too entitled. Sometimes you have to take your medicine and Shula helped Alabama through that, and gave them a nice season as well.

there are plenty of forums, even open forums that aren't team specific, that have actual discussion.

There’s nothing to do in Pullman, though I’m sure he harassed the local coeds. Probably drove to Spokane for his fun, where nobody cared who he was.

Remembering the shite show that was Bama at the time is one of the things that gives me hope as a Vol fan that one day we will fix our shite show.

was reading about the Bayou coach that went down in a plane. Turns out neither coached an SEC game.
Dude, this is bad. You should feel bad. Guy jokes about a coach who had an affinity for strippers, and you make fun of a guy who died in a plane crash?
Time to sit the next couple of plays out...
