for as much as a machine as Bama has been since Saban arrived, people forget what a shite show it was for years before.

that really is the whole story. When Alabama was hit with much more severe sanctions than he thought would happen Dennis Franchione took the A&M job. Alabama was left scrambling for a coach in the face of those sanctions. Price had just finished 2 seasons at Washington State with 10 wins including a share of the conference title. He took the Alabama job and a couple months later played in a pro-am golf tournament in Pensacola, where he hooked up with a stripper. She used the school credit cards to pay for some things and he was busted. In retrospect it's pretty funny. Would make for a decent B movie.

Coach Price at the time had a serious problem with alcoholism. I'm glad that he was able to turn things around in his life after Tuscaloosa and coach again at UTEP.

The day that that happened had to be the low point for the program.the only positive was nick Saban came because they wanted a hard arse
