He’s not wrong. Ole Miss claiming sec championships are relevant are like the navy touting naval battles from WW2.

Lane has your program at levels you haven't seen in years, and if he leaves, you're going back to a program that struggles to enter the top 25.

Lane has two NY6 bowls, one win and one loss.

Freeze had two NY6 bowls at Ole Miss, one win and one loss.

(NY6 bowls are all now playoff games)

Lane's highest ranking of Ole Miss was #4.

Freeze's highest ranking of Ole Miss was #4.

And Cutcliffe was terrible. Don't ever mention his name around me again.

I understand he has a house in Florida but he would have a statue in Ole Miss.

He would be stupid to coach for Florida.

Let’s say the reason.

Kiffin was taking the Florida Atlantic job and became too distracted in Saban’s view to continue to serve as OC at Alabama.

I hate Ole Miss with a passion, but if they had the resources that some of the other schools do they would be a perennial power player. Kiffin does not have a ton to work with, and still always gets the best out of his teams. Unlike other coaches who actually have just about all the resources they need (BK)

And it is a melt. I will fully admit that. But what I am melting about is the impact to our current season, not Florida. He's likely to stay but in the process, will shite the bed on this season because the crap does impact our locker room. That's what I am tired of. That's what I am melting about.

Short sighted.

These rumors will surround any coach winning at Ole Miss until Lane or another coach wins then stays.

Your hope should be that he stays, proves a SEC title can be won and by doing so ends this you can't win it there talk forever.

He is one of the very best coaches in football.

It'd be a chore to do better.

Im not sure you have a real point.

I hope he loses to Oklahoma also so he can get his mind right on this coaching decision.

Kiffin is 100% overrated, and Ole Miss can do better than him. Sure, if he wins 4 more games this season he will lead Ole Miss to 3 straight 10-win seasons for the first time in the history of the program...but how big of an accomplishment is that.

If it wasn't for a 2 point loss at Tennessee in '58 and a 3 point loss at LSU in 61, John Vaught would have had 5 straight 10-win seasons...actually...add to that 1 more point in the 7-7 tie at Mississippi State in '57, and he would have had 6 straight 10-win seasons. See...they aren't that rare. So, yes...this will be the first time that Ole Miss has ACTUALLY won 10 games for 3 consecutive years...but...wait, I forgot my point.

This is dumb. Having a 10 win season back in the day was much harder because the seasons had less games, and they didn't have as many bowl games.

In 1961, Ole Miss played only 10 regular season games, and a bowl game.

In 1962, Ole Miss had a total of only 10 games for the season, counting the bowl game.

And so on.

What John Vaught did in that era was a hell of a lot better than what Kiffin has done. Kiffin has the luxury of losing 2 or 3 games a year and still coming out with a 10 win season.

If you allow Vaught to lose 3 games a year and still consider that great, he'd have like 12 seasons in a row.

Kiffin could be an elite coach at school where he could recruit at an elite level like Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Texas, etc.

Kiffin will not pay unproven HS recruits a lot of NIL money. He has spoken on this many times. He prefers to pay the portal guys because they have a track record. Now, he may change this in the future, but that is how he runs the program. "You have to earn it." That's what he has said the whole time.
