He got it because he straight up lied to the NCAA, told his coaches to lie and told recruits and their families to lie about it.

He actually seems like a nice dude. Had a lot of good to say about Auburn.
With that said, I wouldn’t care if a meteor wiped out the entire population, but nice guy.
Pearl is one of those guys that everyone hates, until he suddenly becomes your guy.
I absolutely despised Bill Walton, until one day I picked up the sports section and read that he had become a Celtic.

I like Pearl the person fine but the Tennessee basketball scandal was so incredibly stupid its hard not to judge him. If he didn't try to cover it up it would have been a slap on the wrist.

It was such a minor violation that he didn't handle correctly because he didn't think it would blow up in his face. College Coaching is such a slimy profession where coaches make a career of looking for NCAA loopholes and denying illegal activity, he had to believe a backyard bbq would at worse result on a slap on the wrist. It worked out great for Auburn, but he had to believe it was like lying to your wife about visiting a strip club.

Pearl seems like a good man to me. Dunno how Auburn lucked up like this but he's been a great hire!
I wanted Bama to hire him so damn bad at the time, but we wouldn't take a huge risk with a guy in Pearl's position. He is the best thing that ever happened to AU basketball and he brings more excitement & energy than any other coach in that AD.

I hate Auburn but I kind of like Pearl. He showed some me class last year towards Alabama in a couple of different scenarios. One of which was regarding Fluff. I appreciated it.
