Totally agree that the regular season ends up meaning jack crap but that’s one reason I love it- you never know what’s going to happen in the tourney.
I find it overall way more entertaining than football- this time of the season for sure.

College basketball is the only sport where the regular season really does not matter. Say Alabama lost every game they played during the regular season, and won the SEC tournament, Alabama makes the NCAA's.
Can someone tell me what the advantage is (other than having one day off in the conference tourney, and maybe making the NCAA's that way) of winning the regular season?
Now the NCAA tournament is a totally different animal, but it lasts only about 3 weeks......
By the way, when I attended Alabama, I was in the stands, every game. I have traveled with Alabama when they have played in the NCAA's (and NIT's)

Boring is 4 hours of truck commercials between fat guys huddling and every time a good play happens the ref calls it back with a yellow flag and reviews it for 15 minutes on replay.
Says the fan of a school whose football program is practically non-existent.
Auburn's basketball overall history is pretty weak, but we have still won TWO SEC Basketball championships in the last 20 years.
Kentucky's football program hasn't done jack shite in the last 20 (or 30 or 40) years.

Wasn’t a certain team eliminated from their conference championship during the regular season in ‘11 and ‘17 but somehow got a shot at the title?

I'll admit it's not as good as football but it is good in its own right if you can just enjoy life for a bit instead of being so fricking miserable.
It's especially good this season since Bama seems to have a pulse AND the fact that there are 8 SEC teams in the tournament. I am not a basketball fan really but I do get erect for March Madness.

If you can't make the dance by fielding one of the top 64 teams in the country you're pretty sh*tty. The regular season doesn't matter. It's so bad no single regular season game can really make or break a teams chances to make it into the NCAAs. Winning a Conference Championship gets a nod but that's BS too because it's only one game a season. To me college BB is boring. GEICO commercials are more entertaining than college BB.
Seriously, when the regular season absolutely doesn't matter why watch?

Yeah, but how often does that happen?

You win the Conference Championship and make the NCAA Tournament.
What's the point of the regular season in football if you can lose in the regular season, not win your conference and still win a NC?

"So you only root for and support Bama in football? Youre not a real fan, real fans support their university in ALL sports."
I can't find where that's a rule.

I mean yea that's true, but doesn't mean we have to watch them religiously?
I couldn't' give two shits what happens in any other sport at USC but Football and Mens hoops. (and as does most of the country)

As the old saying goes,"opinions are like assholes....." What it didn't say was that some are a lot more than others.

There’s no opinion involved. It’s what happened.

All american sports use the regular season for seeding in the playoffs. So technically they do matter.
But not nearly on the same level as say European Soccer.

I'll agree that the regular season is kind of boring, but the tournament is one of the best things in all of sports. The SEC being better actually made the regular season less boring.

Not liking it is one thing. Ok, everybody has an opinion.
Going on a completely uninformed rant is another.
The regular season matters quite a bit. That's where the vast majority of the teams make their resume and fight for seeding. Can a bad team get lucky and win their conference tourney, sure. Does it happen often? Not at all.
The Dance is simply the greatest thing in sports. Bar none.
I prefer football as a game, but it doesn't have anything that comes close to the NCAA tournament as a spectacle.
