Racking up enough gambling debt to get your father fed to alligators was good enough for MJ, so I hope that’s good enough for every Ole Piss wannabe.

SEC needs to rework the tournament format.

Have it set up similar to Omaha, two 4-team regionals - the winners of each ‘regional’ play a single game championship.

Give a financial incentive for players and coaches to actually compete, rather than treating it like mid-week games.

How does that help prep for regional or supers or Omaha?

Next year it’s going to single elimination

If the SEC’s goal is to prep for post-season play - then a single elimination tourney which teams will treat it like it is now - glorified mid-week.

If the SEC’s goal is to increase revenue / viewership / competition - the Omaha style, two regional setup limited to the top 8 teams + incentives will lead to better competition and more viewership/revenue.

Personally, I would keep it same or like next year’s, just give the bullpen some more reps and get on to next week.

It needs something. It’s still fun(ish) for fans but it’s dumb watching bullpen guys out there inning after inning in “championship” games and pretend it really means anything.

Glad it helped LSU get some “quality wins” this year at least, so it served a purpose

I understand the move to single elimination, and I suppose it makes sense because the overriding objective should be to set the SEC up for success in the NCAA tournament. But the new format will provide even less incentive for fans to travel to Hoover from any distance.
