Both were born in Alabama. Jesse Owens moved from the Courtland/Town Creek area when he was young to Ohio. I'm sure Ohio claims him.

actually he was born in Oakville, AL just off of AL HWY 157... he is a native son, and ours... not Ohio !!!

I'd put the Wizard of Ozzie Smith in there somewhere for AL.

I think Georgia's would have to start with Ty Cobb, then Bobby Jones. Jackie Robinson was born near Cairo. Jim Brown was born on St. Simons, but you never hear of a connection to Georgia for him.

After that I don't really know. Herschel Walker, Fran Tarkington maybe.

Dipping lower into the well you could do Bill Elliott (NASCAR/Dawsonville) or Gwen Torrance (track and field/Decatur).

Ohio:

Woody Hayes
Jesse Owens
Jack Nicklaus

Fourth spot could be Cy Young, Paul Brown, Jim Brown, Archie Griffin, LeBron James (could be on there later, but not this early in his career), John Havlicek, Bernie Kosar, Oscar Robertson, Pete Rose. I'd go with Cy Young, with P Brown being my second choice.

Wasn't Bill Russell also born in Louisiana? What about Joe Delaney? If he hadn't drowned I believe he would have been a HOFer.

Even if he's from Arkansas, I think I'd still give him to Bama. I don't think Arkansas would put him be on their Rushmore.

I don't think they would as well, but I drove through Fordyce the other day and they still have the Coca Cola sign up welcoming everyone to The birthplace of 'The Bear' with a likeness of him holding up a Coke bottle.

First off, I agree whole-heartedly with this list.

But even if money grew on friggin trees and the mountain was donated do you think a monument in the state of Alabama would be made in honor of these four men?
