I was one of those Gator fans who was ready to see what Mac could do without his buddy Nuss mucking up the offense, but no more. The man lied about us, got caught, and has lost all trust in my eyes.

He better win and win big if he's here next year, because I have no respect left for the man himself. I might begin to respect him as a coach though if he starts to win.

No more sharks, see a dentist, and win the SEC. Any less is an abject failure.

The noise will reach fever pitch Saturday at 730. Imo he's done here. I would be shocked if he returned next year. He called out the AD in January and now lied about the fans. He has almost no one backing him.

Yeah it's really pathetic how both he and Sumlin made up emotional false flags to try to save themselves from being fired.

Sumlin's was you can't fire me because I received racist threats now McElwain's is you can't fire me because I received death threats and can't do my job properly.

He tries to clear it up here with some incoherent, cryptic BS.

I don't know your coach, but I do know that both players and coaches get death threats from "fans". It happens to kickers when they shank a FG. It happens to receivers when they drop a pass. It happens to coaches when their part of the team performs poorly.

As bad as it sounds, a lineman can turn wrong blocking a man in practice, tweak a groin muscle and miss a play in a game (when he by far the best player on the team in that position) and find that both he and his coach get death threats in the mail the next week.

I understand it is just part of the game, but what a shame it is that fans can't just get a year or two in prison for writing those threats to players and coaches. Imagine having to go to class and study to make decent grades, because you'll never make the NFL and you know that, and then go to practice every day and practice hard for the team after some douchbag writes to you, telling you he knows where you live and owns a deer rifle. The letter certainly looks real to you - the cops won't do shite. and according to the coach, "You must give 110% to keep some crazy fool from shooting you in a parking lot".

All just good fun stuff.

It appears McElwain isn't happy in Florida and is looking for a convenient excuse to leave. I support that if it's what he wants. You guys should be able to do better than him anyway.

I have no doubt it happens and probably happens quite frequently because some fans of every team are legitimately insane and have nothing better to live for. The fact that Mac wouldn’t provide any details to the school is inexcusable. How do you stop death threats from crazy fans? Follow up and prosecute them to the fullest extent. Mac is only worsening the problem and enabling these crazies and is doing a huge injustice to his school, team, and family. Dude is shite bag.

I accept that he is a shite bag. Like I said, I don't know him.

I also know that the police can't do shite about death threats. every year, people are killed that wind up having death threats made that the police knew all about before hand. Every week, some fool writes one or six and mails them out to the players and coaches on his "favorite team". My belief is that they must throw them away. You can't keep shite like that in your desk filed under "Fan letters". It would eventually make you quit, or drive you crazy.

Football.

You should have realized he was a liar at SEC media days when he denied being naked on a shark.

Death threats are usually BS or made by some fool with a sick sense of humor. Anyone planning on killing someone doesn't threaten them, they just go on and do it.

Do you think maybe all his BS drama / excuses for everything have anything to do with Kirby having things rolling quite nicely in Athens?

I smell a beat down almost as bad as what Georgia did to Tennessee.
