The spread won't work against the best SEC defenses. Ask Texas A&M fans how they're doing under Sumlin.

Actually, the Air Raid worked, when we ran it. A&M's current child-OC has gone away from what worked to a hybrid mis-mash of Air Raid and pro concepts (with two different blocking schemes) that doesn't. Herman is a hands-on former OC with an offense that's his. Sumlin is a CEO like Mack Brown (but not as good) whose offense is whatever his OC installs and calls. Herman is a superior hire.

I don't understand our fans. They bitch and moan about Richt, and then act like pussies about our replacement. We all knew Smart or Herman would be the potential replacement, and I'm excited for either one.

Peoples main argument is what if we become like Tennessee, Nebraska etc. My question is so what?? Besides averaging a few more wins how are we any different than them?? We consistently lose 1-2 games a year we shouldn't, and we consistently get blown out in 1-2 games a year. We haven't won a championship in 10 years.

I would much rather take a chance on a guy like Smart or Herman, thank keep winning games, but nothing of importance. Let's be honest, with out talent and schedule next year, a decent coach won't win less than 7 games. I for one am very excited about the future, and the possibility of finally reaching our full potential.

Yeah, that Mike DuBose was such a home run.

First I will say that I think firing Richt was a bonehead move.... that said if I had to go out and hire a HC right now here are the 5 names I would consider from the up and comer side of things.

1. Justin Fuente Memphis.... considering how crappy that program was when he took over it's pretty impressive how fast he has built them into a winner...
2. Tom Herman Houston.... yeah he has only been HC for one year and Houston was built to win already but that offense executes with surgical precision and the defense has been pretty salty too for a spread school.
3. Matt Campbell Toledo.... young guy who has done a good job.... can obviously get his team to believe they are giant killers (i.e. Arkansas).
4. Dan Enos OC Arkansas... what he has done with our offense and Brandon Allen has been impressive... and that was without several of our better offensive weapons... I hope he enjoys the OC role and stays at UA but I fear he will be a hot commodity.
5. Matt Ruhle Temple... impressive turnaround at a school where football has never been a big deal. He may be more of a Big10 guy but he would be worth a look.

obviously there are others but these are the names that have caught my eye with what they have done this year.

As an LSU fan, I really don't have the right to talk much, but:

there are some seriously unrealistic expectations out there, especially amongst the UGA fans.

The SEC had an unprecedented run of national title teams from 2003 until 2012. LSU, Alabama and Florida had multiple titles, Auburn got one.
UGA says, why can't we? Well, for one thing, it's because you are playing against national championsip teams. It's like the LSU fans saying "why can't we win more games with Les?", the answer in part is that Alabama is on a roll.

Nothing to do with your own program, as such. Look at Petrino's last season at Arkansas, it was a strong team, had a great year. Happened to have LSU and Alabama on the schedule (the 2 BCS teams), and had 2 big losses. Doesn't mean Arky sucked, meant that there were better teams in college, and they happened to both be in the same division.

UGA hasn't been bad at all in Richt's tenure, but the SEC has been full of teams that are just a little better in certain years.

UGA will make Jimbo or some other proven head coach tell them no. Then they would move on to Herman or Kirby. I am mixed on Kirby. I think he could lock down the state as much as possible, possibly hire Muschamp to come home as well and the defense would be lights out but I have no idea who he would hire as an OC or even how he would handle being a HC at all.

Herman is intriguing. Most think he is the next Urban and it's easy to see why. If he could convince Pruitt to stay on board and salvage the class it could be a homerun.

meh, in 124 years or so of football they've won 14 conference title (12 SEC). There pretty much always about that far in between conference titles.

Agree except I think Mullen would be as good or better than Richt.

He is legit and a great play caller.

We have the 3rd most SEC titles all time, only 1 behind UT.

We aren't bama but that's obvious, they're the cream of the crop. But the last 15 years UF/AU/LSU have all won bigger than we have and have started to creep up on (if not pass) us as all time programs.

We've been sitting in neutral the last 10 years while UF/LSU/AU have thrived. After meyer left UF, we should be running through the east, yet we haven't. Thsi isn't about us thinking we're better than we are, it's about not continuing ot get lapped by similar programs.

Nobody thinks we're alabama or ND type program all time, but we should be doing better than we have the last 10 years. Since Richt's last SEC title, the only thing we've won of note is a Sugar Bowl in 07. Since then (the last 8 seasons) we have 2 division titles (no SEC titles), no major bowls, and not a ton of big wins. Meanwhile, UF, bama, lsu, and auburn have all won national titles.

It's pretty simple...either you're getting better or you're not. We haven't been getting better.

You're not LSU stupid, but if they didn't have someone already lined up, then letting Richt go was stupid.

It's definitely a roll of the dice.

If I were a UGA fan, I'd want Herman. However the concern is that he wants to be in Austin and so if he has any kind of success at UGA you gave to think he's the first call once Strong is fired (if he isn't first on the list already).

Herman at GAg is a mismatch. You would lose Eason for sure. I guess it will be Kirby

Why?? And please give me a reason other than he wins consistently, as I have already addressed that.
