Not sure if you guys know this, but Ole Miss HC Hugh Freeze has a bonus in his contract that pays him an extra $100,000 for Every SEC win Ole Miss has.

So I guess he was going all in on that failed 4th down against A&M. However, I think Hugh gets his first of 2 early $100K Christmas bonuses this Saturday vs Auburn.

Dan Mullen made the same mistake Hugh did Saturday. Except he did it like three times. He better not do that shite this week.

I may be in the minority, but it wasn't THAT BAD of a call.

Ole Miss punts, and what happens? A&M was going to score that drive no matter where it started.

His best chance at making a stop was to keep the football out of Manziel's hands.

Young coach making a mistake. He and the team will bounce back this week. They have to.

A&M would have gotten it in the endzone even if they had punted.

I don't believe many question going for it, it is the play calling that most are surprised at. All that was needed was an inch or two. Refs would have given the spot on a QB sneak no matter if it was no gain.

We had 3 timeouts left and had just gone 99 yards in 4 plays the previous drive. I wouldn't have had a problem going for it, just the play call. He only needed an inch, they should have run a QB sneak, with a FB pushing him from behind.

Going for it was the RIGHT call. But it should have been a QB sneak, under center.

We line Bo up under center and tell him to fall forward and it's a first down. We run the play out of the shotgun with Mackey or Parker and it's a first down

going for it was actually a pretty obvious call imo. There was 3:30 left and we had 3 TOs. That's an eternity with our offense and the clock rules. They'd also forced us to punt all of once the whole day and we had either scored or turned it over. Where we got the ball was fairly irrelevant other than it may have taken us 2-3 more plays to score (and 2-3 more chances to turn it over ).

Now the playcall itself...that may have been questionable. But I think the people wanting him to punt are revisionists. As an A&M fan, I absolutely wanted him to punt it.

The prob was not going for it but the play call. How do you not stay under center with qb sneak with only an inch to go. Instead by going shotgun the ball starts several yards back. One of the dumbest play calls ever.

the change of fear to excitement when through my head when they lined up in shotgun formation.

Ole Miss' offense gets by on Misdirection gadget plays. Not power football.

He stuck with what they do best.

Love Hugh Freeze, I've been saying it since the day they hired him. He'll get it done at Ole Miss, and I'd take him over Dooley in a heartbeat.

I don't think it was as bad of a call as everyone was making it out to be. He ran a sneak earlier in the game. There had to be a specific reason he didn't run the sneak. Either 1, the staff had come to the conclusion that, the draw was our best play or 2, he didn't trust our center and guards to not get pushed back and wanted to let the quickness of Scott make one cut and get the first down. Regardless our defense was shot and if we punted they would have scored anyway.

Not saying I disagree, but we never run it under center. If we ha lined up under center in would have been obvious what we were running (although that probably doesn't matter).

I think Hugh just made a quick bad decision after he was obviously frustrated with the closest spot I have ever seen.

Oh, come on, Tn Jed, it was a horrible call, from actually going for it to the formation. He did nothing right on that play. I still don't know if Ole Miss had a timeout, but someone on that sideline should have used it if they did, or someone should have got in his ear and tried to calm him down before deciding.

yea the typical response here is that the qb doesnt take as many snaps under center so he could fumble the ball but thats not the intelligent way of looking at things. Either way you look at it you always have a chance of messing up the snap, but either way you look at it the chance of messing up one snap on any one play is very low even if you dont practice under center a lot. But you cant stop there, you then have to factor in the probability of getting a good snap plus the probability of converting 1 inch VS the probablity of getting a good snap from shotgun plus the probability of converting the ball now from several yards back (and more time for defense to respond).

Any way you look at it, it was a dumb call.
