I almost took a job in Norman once, I had a good first impression, but I'm sure there are sketchy areas that I'm not aware of

Norman is really nice around campus... when you get past the campus area it is less than impressive. Of course on the edges of town you've got your fancy housing tracts...

The best thing about Norman is that they have been able to preserve the area around campus to where it still feels like a sleepy little college town. You'd never know you were in a town of 130 K or in a metro of 1.5 million when you are in or around campus.

Arkansas kind of has that as well. Even though there are 500K in NW Arkansas now... it doesn't feel that way on campus.

Columbia IS a college town. So it feels like one.

It’s a nice campus, and stadium. As far as going there vs other schools, it all depends on your major I suppose.

I spent 4 years there. Norman, as a town is…Meh. Never fell in love with the city.

The Campus is beautiful, lots of cool gothic architecture. I’ve been to a lot of colleges for the gameday experience and Oklahoma is probably top 5 out of the 30 or so games I’ve been to outside Norman.

The education is great depending on what you want to focus on. They have one of the top meteorology programs in the world, high quality liberal arts and medicine programs.

The real value in going to OU, is being 15 minutes from Oklahoma City. I’ve travelled extensively and OKC is still one of my favorite places to visit. It’s a big city with a small town vibe.

The weather sucks dicks though, it’s always windy and each season is extreme.

OKC and Ft. Worth are similar in many ways. Plenty to do, but Norman isn’t right next door.

This is interesting...

Not saying there isn't a lot to do in NW Arkansas... Especially given that it doesn't include an actual urban center. NW Arkansas punches way above its weight in arts and culture... And NW Arkansas has really nice outdoor opportunities.

But I don't think it is a stretch to say that OKC has more going on from traditional "city" type amenities.

I mean we could start with the Thunder and go from there.

State Capitol...

Downtown with a skyline.

OKC metro has two large state Universities and seven private universities

Just stuff you tend to see in actual big city metro areas.

Fayetteville is definitely the most scenic of the 3, but Arkansas and OU are very similar schools, to be honest. Same feel, same caliber of students, same overall vibe. I have many friends and colleagues who have attended OU and Ark, or who have kids there.

Mizzou is nothing like the others above. Very different culture. I’ll leave it at that.

It exists to support the football program, not the other way round. That means even though the facade of amateurism in college sports is over, the school will continue to *exist.

*Producing grads that are barely literate, but hey..that's better than full tard, right?
