yes...same number of titles, but UT has 38 CWS Appearances. Basically thats 6 national titles with 38 elite 8's. That is more impressive that 6 national titles and 21 elite 8's. #1 on that list shouldnt be up for debate

Texas & LSU are 1a and 1b

Texas has done it over a longer period of time..
but LSU has 7 NC now..

both have an argument for #1

More titles in half the trips, winning percentage has to count for something ??

ya know I apologize. I was thinking LSU tied UT after this last one.

I still give the nod to UT for making the CWS basically 50% of the time, but I admit LSU has argument.

State isn't 2. Probably 4 or 5 depending on how you weight some things vs. Florida for on field results.

If we're talking pure tradition and the general sentiment around "program" then yea, I could see State at 2 easily alongside LSU.

State is the pioneer of SEC baseball in that you were the first powerhouse program.

ehh no. If the CWS was randomly selected each year then yes, but 38 times they finished top 8 in the country. LSU and UT both played baseball all of those years, and 17 extra times LSU didnt finish top 8. Thats where credit comes from.

Going 2 and 0 is better than losing a regional or super. Its still an elite 8. Being harsher on a team that went over teams that didnt go at all, is odd to me.

edit...I looked it up. 6 times in 38 trips they went 0-2. 3 times for LSU in 21 trips...which is about the same %

I think we should be ranked by number of SEC wins.

Off the cuff something like this:

1 Point for Appearance
2 Points for Super
3 Points for WS
4 Points for Runner Up
10 Points for a title

The problem with a lot of this is it would give more credit for being better recently rather than historically. Supers didn't come about until 1999, and that was also the first season the tournament expanded to 64 teams.

Texas has 38 CWS appearances over 75 total CWS, Texas has made the CWS more than half the time presently

Also, Texas has finished the season in top 4 at CWS 28 times, about 37% of the time

if we don't replace pierce it won't take LSU long to be the clear #1 imo. We're neck and neck as it is.
I'm just going to enjoy finally being in a conference that loves college baseball. I can't wait....with the right coach of course.

Texas has finished the season in top 4 at CWS 28 times

This might be the most ridiculous Texas stat out there..

75 College World Series
28 Top 4 finishes by Texas (37% of all CWS)

28 - 1st to 4th Place
10 - 5th to 8th Place
38 Total Appearances by Texas

LSU has 17 SEC Championships and 12 SEC Tournament Championships....... so maybe #1 since Texas has zero of these, right ????
