Just punt on 4th down and let our O give you the ball back with better position.
Beat me to it.

Texas has one fully healthy RB and he's a true freshman. We have two RBs lost for the season and another two banged up but they should see action against OU if not re-injured. Then we have a converted WR, a graduate transfer, and some walk-ons.
Not sure if we can run the ball on OU straight up. The receiver corp is much healthier and actually one of the best units of the team. Hmm, it seems likely Sark will emphasize the pass if Ewers is ready for OU. If we play Manning, he undoubtedly will protect him with more runs.

Jaden Blue, 1 of the "banged up" RB, had 100+ yards and 4 TD's last week. He will be okay,
We ended up not moving the WR to RB when we got the grad transfer.
Texas will run on OU, or we will have WR's running loose all over the field.
Against UTSA, Arch had the same playbook that Ewers had. Against ULM, the run game was pretty vanilla and there was minimal motion by the offense. It had little to do with Arch and more to do with not putting anything else on tape.
Sark is always going to emphasize the pass, especially with RB 1&2 out for the season.

Niblett did convert to rb. He got 3 carries in the UL-Monroe game and at the very least is splitting time at rb. But whatever label he is given doesn't matter ultimately. Hopefully Blue and Gibson are enough and Wisner comes back soon.

1st half of the Vols game worked very well and was still open in the second half but Josh showed mercy by running up the middle with 8 in the box most of the second half.
Why lie to yourself? Outside of two chunk plays your offense did nothing all game. Heupel went conservative cuz Nico kept getting strip sacked and TFLs over and over.

I don't see that happening with Ewers.

I feel like this was addressed to you. Vols did what they wanted in the 1st half and cruised to an easy win. The game was never in doubt.
The bigger question for OU is can y’all beat UofSC, Auburn, and Maine to go to a bowl game? Welcome to the SEC… thought they were top 15 and hoping to win the games they should and pull an upset to go 7-5 as a best case scenario.

They averaged 2.9 yards per carry. Seemed like every time, except for a few outliers, that their nationally known running attack ran into a brick wall over and over and over.
The weakness is the secondary. They are NFL sized, very different from the small guys OU used to field during the Riley era. That size doesn’t come with the speed to cover some of the fast WR units we will face in the SEC, however. They also have a tendency to play 1 high, and that 1 high as good as bowman is, tends to ball hawk which can leave room for breakaway plays. But that’s a feature, not a bug in the venables system. He’s willing to stuff you 9/10 times in exchange for a break out play every blue moon. Not my favorite thing to watch, but if he puts up results like he did Saturday, I’ll take it.

Punt on first down.
That way you avoid fumbles and interceptions which is the key to the game

RPO and the vertical pass game.
Tejas will be fine vs OU. Unclinch your cheeks.

DTs and lbs to good to run on. Have to use the qb and or get them going sideways , rpo, play action something to get the lbs thinking . You won’t have long to make a decision .

He hardly showed mercy. Lol who shows mercy in a 2 score game?
He pivoted to the conservative game after your talented, but young qb turned it over twice. He decided he didn’t have to reinvent the wheel and try for style points at the risk of more turnovers.
And he was right. He could simply take what the defense would give him on the ground and if they didn’t get anything, it’s all good, because Arnold was making a living at giving the ball right back to Tennessee.
Lord this “mercy” theory has really taken hold and it’s bizarre. No part of Heupel’s game plan entailed mercy because of some sense of pride in Alma mater. Neither was he there to stomp on their throats out of vindictiveness. Dude was on a business trip, nothing more, nothing less.

quote:why because we still got retard Tenn fans saying they shut it down ….. what ? You got shut down . You passed more in the second half than you did in first . They had 3-4 plays on our defense all night . With as bad as our offense was and it was fricking horrible , most of us are so proud of the way the defense played vs a legit offense . We are not taking anything away from Tenn we all said really good offense and defense . I have seen multiple LSU and Bama fans compliment us on our defense . It’s usually 3 schools talking shite Missouri ( who wants to be us so bad ) Texas and or Tenn.

Right now OU is down 3 wrs starters , 1 backup . 4 OL all of which have started as some point .

And? OU was fielding a high school team on the o line. I could make the argument “well, I think Tennessee’s defense is getting way too much credit this week they’re actually not as good as advertised.”
But I’m not, because it’s all speculation. Tennessee won, Oklahoma lost. Both have excellent defenses, that was very apparent.
Only wish Oklahoma could have a top 100 (I wish this wasn’t so much to ask) offense, and we’d be serviceable.

Reputation meaning he can decipher crappy signals from the sideline?

lol you’re lying to yourself and everyone here by saying this.
Tennessee scored 3 points in the first quarter. If we go back in time, last week you were probably jawing about how Tennessee would hang 4 touchdowns by halftime. Didn’t happen.
Venables defense had your number all night. Everyone else on your schedule saw that too.

No they and he was jawing 51-10 scores ….. I told him they would be real upset and by the looks of it they are . Starting to agree with UgA fans Tenn fans here for the most part don’t know football . They sure didn’t talk this much shite when we wipped their asses the last two times we played them and I don’t think many OU fans were very cocky because we never felt you were an elite team .
