The answer is simple, if you require a game stoppage, you are out of the game for at least a series or two before you can come back in.

Often you will see a player intending on staying in the game but being instructed to get down. At that point you can give the team a warning over apparent coached flopping. After that, 15 yard personal fouls to be endorced. *If a player cannot make it off the field and the coach instructs the player to get down that is clean.*
This is the most ridiculous thread on the board in a long time. Why not have the team’s Official Injury Lawyers on the sideline to file suit promptly for improper medical attention…
As for players instructed to get down rather than limp off the field this has been a thing since before HUNH offenses. Coaches do not want injured players limping off the field and leaving them with 10 sec to make sub and a play call. This is especially true for QBs.

Then I would let my helmet pop off. How many series will I get for that? When you treat legitimate injuries the same as acting you are reading minds and trying to legislate motives and no one in Birmingham or anywhere else is interested in opening those can of worms. That's why we have fortune tellers.

Outlaw the go fast offense in the name of player safety and give defense a rare win in the ever broadening of the penalization of playing defense.

How about we actually show we care about player safety and remove these fast-paced offenses from the game? Allow the refs to dictate the pace of the game rather than the team with the football. Of course this idea won't go over too well, and I'm sure to get a lot of downvotes, because certain teams would lose their competitive advantage if this were to happen. However, it will definitely cut down on flops.
easy to say in your ivory tower as an alabama fan, while running a fast paced offense with depth only uga can match....gtfo

player sits out until the next possession

This is the option I agree with. Refs don't need to be making subjective decisions on who's injured and who isn't. Sucks for the truly injured who want to come back in, but sit every player who stops play for an alleged injury. If the coach sends a lesser player in for a play to fake it, at least his team is made more vulnerable for that play that he's in.

Anytime you are telling someone they are or aren’t hurt opens you up to being liable.
The problem with this is the NCAA is going to go down the rabbit hole of every potential solution and find something that will open them up to more liability than the way it is right now
quote:
Simple fix is. Said player sits out until the next possession.
NCAA logic
Will also increase liability. That rule would cause some truly injured players to metaphorically "rub some dirt on it" because they don't want to sit out a possession. Having some legitimately hurt player who does not have all their faculties make a split second decision to get up or stay down can cause that player to make a really dumb move that then could cause them to get injured even worse. Player will then tell court that they would not have gotten up if they thought they could be evaluated and then reenter the game. NCAA liable.
The NCAA would rather have a product with flops than make a rule that could even slightly increase their liability and lose them and their affiliates money and lead to a public court case.

You do realize the fake injuries are so apparently coached that even the announcers say they are getting out of hand. Why would an injury lawyer want to lose a case?

You apparently did not read a word that I said. I already said that was clean, thus acceptable.

Kiffin had his RB flopping as well. What's your excuse for that one?

You flop, you miss the rest of the current possession.
Take em at their word. “Oh you’re hurt enough to stop play? You need to sit out the rest of this possession so we can make sure you’re okay.”
Maybe two possessions.

How about the "injured player" sits out for 10 plays or the end of the drive, whichever is longest.
If a player is injured a second time, he may not return to the game, and must be certified healthy before allowed to play again. A doctor not associated with the school, and named by the leagues must do the cerification.

Charge a timeout to flopper team or give option to sit out the rest of the game. If late in the game , sit out first half of next game.

I think you have to eliminate the judgment and liability part of this. Not only liability, but will delay the game with trainers, arguments, reviews, all kinds of extra bull shite.
I think the concept of benching for snaps or game clock time might work. Hockey has a penalty box, football needs a injury box concept.
Propose that if injury stops the game clock, the player will be sidelined for X number of snaps, or X game clock minutes. Game clock minutes might work best as precious ime at the end of half or game will increase severity of flopping.
Edit: Was watching Texas St. Vs. Troy last night. There was an egregious and blatant flop to stop Tx. St. hurry up offense. Troy player hit the deck as he was trying to sub out. Pointing to leg while grinning to his sideline teammates. Obvious!

Can't wait for a star QB or prized offensive piece to limp off and be out of timeouts in a close one. They all get the targeting treatment.

Step 1 is have the SEC offices tell Kiffin to cut that shite out. 90% of the blatant flopping is coming from one team.

Yup, seems like others are going to have to retaliate in turn to Kiff at an absurd and ridiculous amount to get stronger attention for rules committee to act.

All you have to do is change the rule to where a player that is running off the field and outside the numbers and has no affect on the play does not count as too many men on the field.

If you make a player sit out a possession (or any amount) they will play injured. That’s a liability so it will never be allowed.
The simple solution is allow a window for the defense to substitute. Just like the QB can be talked to for the first 10 seconds, the defense should be allowed to substitute during that time.
The exception would be the final two minutes of each half.
