They have to keep ranking Texas to prop up the mysterious OU ranking.

since that game and the qb change they looked like world beaters
Wow. So many things wrong with that statement.
1. Arkansas was game 2 for the sips.
2. A&M was down 17-10 in the 2nd half and almost held Arkansas scoreless except for a field goal set up by two bad calls on the same play.
3. Opening game was a 41-10 win over Kent State. Colorado was game 2.
4. Kennedy Brooks was the hero of that game, not Caleb Williams.

Brisket may not be "BBQ" (it is), but it's better than whatever anyone else calls "BBQ."
I too apologize for the topic deviation.
Carry on.

Texas has three of the largest cities in the USA (Dallas Houston San Antonio). All have a lot of Longhorn alumni. Gotta keep them happy.

You think getting blown out by 30 to Arkansas is better than losing to Arkansas by 10 and only giving up 20 points?
Congrats on the moral victory

They received enough votes to be ranked.

Typically any of the teams in spots 21-25 could be interchangeable with just about any of the teams receiving the most votes that aren't ranked (i.e. essentially ranked 26-30) and it would still be a fair argument for the ones that are ranked against the ones that aren't. At this point, the conference championship is the main goal and that's based on standings via simple wins/losses.
So I'm not really sure the ranking matters much for the rest of the season tbh, and most Longhorns, like myself, would honestly rather be unranked at this point since there's no key win to point to. Hopefully that changes this weekend. We'll see.

How the hell is Oklahoma still ranked in the top 20? They'd get their dicks smashed by pretty much every SEC team not named Vandy and Mizzou.
Lmao this is one of the funniest takes I’ve ever read.

Time will tell whether Texas will count as a "quality win" for them based on how Texas finishes, but the Longhorns were absolutely giving them the business in the first half. Then the sooners came out with all of the perfect adjustments and were able to make all of the 50-50 plays late in the game. They got some breaks and had some bounces go their way, sure, but you make you're own luck in scenarios like that, and they were able to take over when it mattered.
Lincoln Riley can coach a football team.

Aggie, congrats on your team beating ‘Bama. I have Aggie cousins I like, and grew up with plenty of Aggie friends, so mean that. Have some beer and BBQ, and enjoy this week.
I think Sark is serious and our offense is getting fun to watch. But Texas is not going to be relevant nationally again until it builds up both its offensive and defensive lines - that’s pretty obvious.
I think we have coaches that can do that, but this will take some time. Sark will need to win enough to keep our notoriously inpatient Texas fan base calm enough to build up the team.
Hopefully when we play you boys again we will be more built up in the trenches. Getting our lines patched up before Okie State, and filling in for hurt key players is a lot more important than if we are in the top 25 or not right now.
Someday we will be ready Aggie, and I am looking forward to some wild games - where your band will play some precise military marches at halftime, and ours will play Broadway show tunes…
Go get a really tall stool.
Climb up on top of it.
Jump up as high as you can.
And bite my arse.

A team with 2 losses in 5 games regardless of who they beat in your 3 games shouldn’t be ranked . Especially considering the two losses.
So A&M shouldn’t be ranked either?
