I understand you guys are all upset, UF was supposed to be down this yr and it was a chance for another team to claim the East. But even in a down yr UF is still UF and we run this bitch.

Because Ole Miss will bring exponentially more fans to NO.

That's probably one of the bigger reasons.

Because Florida is a terrible football team. They're the worst SEC East representative in the SECCG since 2014 Missouri.

Probably because ole miss is closer....but while technically they have the better bowl game, UF has the better bowl opponent so I'm happy.

Florida doesn't travel well to non-championship, non Florida bowls. Ole Miss hasn't been here since Archie. Ole Miss will buy every ticket, they are a good team and are excited. Florida will travel much better to the Outback or Capital One vs the Sugar (as crazy as it sounds). Bringing a non traveling UF team to a bowl they couldn't care less about playing in would be idiotic when you have a good team that is also over the moon about playing in this game. Plus MS is close and LA is loaded with Ole Miss grads/fans.

SEC rules, and contracts with the CFP, ESPN, and the Sugar Bowl....

quote:

1) Which SEC Team qualifies for the CFP?
The winner of the SEC Championship Game (December 5, 2015) automatically qualifies for a
spot in the Sugar Bowl if that team is not selected to participate in the four-team playoff. If
the SEC Champion is selected to participate in the four-team playoff then the next highest
ranked SEC team in the CFP Selection Committee Rankings will represent the SEC in the Sugar
Bowl.
The top four teams in the CFP Standings will play in the semifinals (Orange and Cotton)
with the winners advancing to the CFP National Championship Game in Glendale, Ariz.
(Monday, January 11).

LINK

Ole Miss was ranked highest, after Alabama, in the CFP rankings. The SEC champion, Alabama, was picked for the 4 team playoff, so the next highest, Ole Miss, goes to the Sugar Bowl.

Y'all wanted the playoff, y'all got it.

The main reason is written into the arrangement the Sugar Bowl has with the SEC and the Big XII. It states clearly that the SEC Champion and the Big XII Champion will play in the Sugar Bowl. Unless one or both are in the playoffs. This year, both were in the playoffs. In that case, the Sugar Bowl takes the highest-ranked SEC and Big XII teams and matches them. Ole Miss finished #12 in the committee's rankings. Florida finished #18. No contest. Had Florida beaten FSU, they would have had a chance to finish above Ole Miss. But that didn't come close to happening. Regardless of the rules, I'm sure the Sugar Bowl is pleased that Ole Miss is coming, however. The Rebel fans love going to New Orleans, a tradition that began with the long-standing series with Tulane, and the fact that this will make the ninth Sugar Bowl appearance by Ole Miss with a 5-3 record so far. I expect about 40 to 50,000 Ole Miss fans there (large alumni base, too) and about 15,000 Okie State fans.

Bowl games don't care about records or who a team wins/beats. Bowl commitees care about money. Who is more likely to travel to NoLa Ol Piss or Florida?

Because UF doesn't have a QB and nobody would want to watch that offense play.

55000 fans in stands at last Florida sugar bowl definitely did not help gators . Worst sugar bowl crowd in over 50 years. I sat on 50 for that game with $10 ticket . Very poor support by gators!

The honest answer is that several weeks ago Will Grier was caught roiding out. He was suspended which obviously hurt their offense. Even worse was that the entire team had to get off the roids to avoid increased scrutiny. Over the course of the season they became weaker and weaker until all that was left was a band of pencil necked nancies. Even Coach Mac. Remember those earlier outburst of uncontrolled rage? Suspiciously absent by the end of the season even as his team was crushed by FSU and Bama and pushed to the limit by FAU. This is the truth that the media doesn't want you to know. Thank you.

Gnash you must be still really butthurt over our 38-10 behind the woodshed beatdown of your azz...no? Its ok....just applying ointment to your sore anus and it will heal but leave nasty scars.

Another case of big name program getting the benefit of the doubt. Almost as bad as Ohio State getting in the playoff last year after losing to Va Tech!
