Of course LSU didn’t “end UT”, it’s just fun to troll. That being said, I have never been around more devastated fans then riding the MARTA in Atlanta following the 2001 SEC championship. I saw grown men in tears. Roses scattered on the ground everywhere.
What really happened to UT? Dumb question, it’s the same thing that happened to the rest of the SEC, Saban to Bama in 07.

Idiots ran the university and hired idiots to run the AD who hired idiots to run the football team. Pretty simple

1) Fulmer was overrated
2) Kiffin was immature at that age
3) Dooley was over his head
4) Butch Jones was a nut case
5) Pruitt was a poor coach and cheater
All these errors compliments of terrible AD’s.

Garner was bringing in all those Georgia kids to Tennessee and Richt was smart enough to do whatever it took to get him to Georgia
Jim Donnan hired Rodney Garner 3 years before Mark Richt came to UGA

Tennessee was never the same after that arse kicking we gave you in the 2001 SECG. I lived in Knoxville from 2002-2012 and saw the decline first hand. I’d throw Mike Hamilton in the mix there as well. He didn’t know his arse from a hole in the ground.

No you didn't. You idiots give yourself way more credit than you earned. You didn't end UT's program, You didn't run Bryant off who had dominated you, you didn't have the first gameday in 1997, the first gameday was in 1993 with ND vs FSU. You are not what you think you are to the rest of us. Richt ended Fulmers reign, Bryant retired after losing to Auburn and there were about a dozen gamedays before they made their way to Baton rouge for UF-LSU 1997. Bama, UT, UGA have much more illustrious histories and quite frankly, LSU is not a threat now and are fading even more with the rise of UT. Baseball season will be here soon enough and you can claim this blueblood BS status in that sport.
Man this is a lot of melty melt.

1. Randy Sanders was an awful offensive coordinator.
2. Spurrier leaving Florida, actually hurt the UT program. Fulmer that he could coast after that.
3. The 2001 SEC championship game happened. Tennessee wins that game, that would have been their third conference title in five years, and would have played for their second national championship in the past four seasons.
4. The injury riddled 2002 season.
5. Legendary S&C coach John Stucky became ill after the 2002 season and was forced to resign. He was replaced by a towel waving idiot named Johnny Long.
6. Fulmer made bad assistant hire after bad assistant hire.
7. Recruiting started to slack off. Richt at UGA, Saban at LSU, and Pete Carroll at SC shut off pipelines that Tennessee had relied on.
8. HC coaching talent in the conference greatly improved from 2001 on. I mean go back and look at some of the coaches that patrolled the sidelines in the ‘90s.
There’s a shite ton more things that happened with the program, but you get the picture.

Gotcha. I guess Goff was smarter than I thought he was then. There was a reason why Spurier called him “Ray Goof”. Spurier was the OG troll.

They weren't able to take recruits out of Georgia and some other border states and that led to a slow decline that eventually cost them in national recruiting as well.

LSU didn't do shite.

I agree with some of what you said but I also agree with the Tennessee poster. Tennessee had a huge internal problem something similar to what Auburn is having now.
Posted on 11/4/22 at 9:31 pm to Torch
Other teams started it but Auburn officially ended them in 04. Going up 31-3 in the first half in Neyland and then going in raw on them again in the SECCG.

If I’m being honest, that 2001 loss to LSU in the SEC Championship was the worst loss I can remember in my lifetime as a Tennessee fan. It cost us a game for the national championship in the Rose Bowl. And there was no excuse for us losing that game, we were up 17 - 7 in the first half and had knocked Davie out of the game but we still managed to lose that damn game.
Posted on 11/4/22 at 10:00 pm to SavageOrangeJug
You sir are correct. The losses to other teams that year and after are the result of his laziness, not the cause of our downfall. It all traces back to Fulmer after Cutcliffe left.
Posted on 11/4/22 at 10:00 pm to morriscat2
Very true plus Tennessee had that AD that was a Clemson alum the 1 that fired Fulmer and started all the riffs that lead to bad decisions after bad decisions
Posted on 11/4/22 at 10:02 pm to morriscat2
And that was also the rise of Clemson for some odd reason.
