UGA has been the top 2-3 most talented team in the SEC and top 10 in the country for the past 15 years based on recruiting rankings. The results on the field never quite matched up.

So... uga actually recruited from the 3rd to 4th best in the conference. And UGA regularly finished up 3rd to 4th in the conference under Richt.

The results on the field exactly matched the results in recruiting.

For some reason, people equate top 10 in the country to national championships (or lack thereof for Richt and UGA). UGA is competing in the SEC. And being the 3rd or 4th best class in the conference should not lead to an expectation of #1 in the country.

Top-10 is pretty much the bare minimum you can recruit and expect to consistently compete nationally.

Florida is way too high. They will lose probably 8-10 of their top players to felony conviction

You just made that shite up. GTFO of here with that crap and bring real facts.

2007, 8th National 5th SEC
2008, 7th National 3th SEC
2009, 4th National 3th SEC
2010, 11th National 5th SEC
2011, 7th National 3rd SEC
2012, 9th National 3rd SEC
2013, 12th National 6th SEC
2014, 8th National 5th SEC
2015, 6th National 3th SEC
2016, 6th National 3th SEC

UGA has never made the top two in SEC until the last two years. Unlike the ACC the SEC is a tough conference to play in.

Ninja edit: I quit at 2007... 2006 we were second in the SEC, we should of won it all the next year

I went back and looked at the rankings on 247... Yes since 2006, you did average around 4th in the conference. You had some elite followed by average (for UGA) years.

I concede my point, and in comparing the numbers to Alabama, Auburn, UGA, LSU and Florida it is clear that LSU is the team that we should be criticizing for underperformance.

The difference between 1st and 5th can be insignificant or the difference between 1 and 2 can be significant. The relative rankings don't necessarily mean much. Overall, you would prefer to be rated high, but with specific years and especially specific recruits, the evaluations can be way off.

The primary factors are the ability to evaluate needs, evaluate talent and develop talent.

Also, look at the NFL Draft the 4 years before this year
Our classes from '10-'13 yielded a grand total of THIRTEEN draft picks...that's unbelievably bad especially for UGA.Bama,LSU,and Florida had double that amount and Auburn,Ole Miss,ArKansas and Missouri all had more. Our talent level had dropped off
dramatically.Thank God Jeremy Pruitt arrived and stepped our recruiting in '14 and '15

BhamDore only seems to post to denounce recruiting rankings w/flawed logic. It’s the oddest thing.

I used to like knowing we had top talent that could go head to head with any team. I'm glad CEO is here to bring us back...

Actually we, in the past...usually had a top 10 recruiting class in the nation, but were normally 4th or 5th in the SEC.

people who do not like recruiting rankings usually come from teams that find it difficult to recruit well.

It's a mantra that has been repeated on here over and over, so it's normal that people begin to think it is true. Don't get me wrong...our recruiting should have been better, but we let too many other programs come in and take a lot of good players. Deshuan Watson, anyone?

Yet He thinks Bama proves that recruiting rankings are bs. Can’t make any sense of it.

He actually wanted to go to UGA early on. Morris was all over him as a 9th grader. I think UGA probably didn't show him a ton of love initially because they saw him as a dual threat guy. The truth was as good as his legs were, his arm and his will to win were even better.

We probably don't get Trevor Lawrence without Deshaun Watson... so thank you.

Yeah. That doesn't make much sense.
Maybe he is thinking we think that recruiting is all it takes? Most of us all recognize that along with recruiting you have to have good coaching and a certain amount of luck. Of course, the better the recruits you have the less luck you need.
