There is no reason for him to go to Indiana when Bama will pay him just as much.
Not to mention he can recruit the same caliber of player here without having to subject himself and his family to a crazy basketball fan base like Indiana's. And wait until next season post-covid....Bama fans will pack Coleman, shitty arena or not. Indiana has no special appeal to a 17 yr old.

They owe ten million to outgoing coach. They’d owe Bama 12 million and then they’d have to pay Oats what he’s worth. He’s not going to Indiana.

Name an Alabama coach that needs to be fired
BTW, SJW Scott Woodward is stone cold crazy if he thinks Darante Jones is a better choice than Pete "I be from Louzianner Bitch" Golding as Defensive Coordinator. (He's playing with fire there, overriding Orgeron and making that PC DC hire)

Indiana would have to pay a buyout of $20 million before we get to what Alabama can and can not match salary wise.
Schools pay big money to fire a coach. Schools do not pay major buyouts to hire their new coach. Nate Oats ain't leaving for another NCAA job anytime soon.

If Walmart money was the end all be all for the Arkansas Athletic program they wouldn't have hired guys like Chad Morris, Sam Pittman, Stan Heath, and John Pelphrey.

Indiana is a basketball school. They will spend what is needed to get a coach they think is worthy. However, it is huge risk, their AD had better be sure, or the two buyouts and the coaching salary will put a huge dent in their athletic budget.
Two examples-
1) Mal Moore basically broke the bank with Coach Saban by giving him a blank check. It turned out to be a very good hire, and has brought more money to the school
2) Look no further than Texas to see the pattern for bad hires (Sark maybe a good one, we shall see) and they have more money than God. I only remember four NC in baseball, one NC in football, none in basketball since 1971 (40 years)

We are starting to hear rumors about how Minnesota is passing the hat for their run at Mussleman. Ain't it cool?

Indiana is no longer a great place to coach. The Hoosier basketball program is now like Nebraska or Tennessee in football - a total has been.

Isn't Mark Cuban an Indiana donor?
Yes. The rumor is that he paid the entire Archie Miller buyout himself.

One of many trying to get his attention, including Indy. Mussleman is making 2.5 million a year. Puts him at the bottom of the elite coaches' foodchain. Even if arky manages to fend off the suiters, when the dust settles, it's going to cost the piglets plenty to keep their newfound asset.
