Was that the question?
No, but the answer needs to be looked at closer. Programs like UGA should beat teams from the SEC at a 50% rate or better. Having 6 other teams in the SEC who have won NC in the 12 years of Richt, should increase those odds. A better examination would be the record of those former NCs the year your coach beat them.

I would say Richt probably is the one coach that should have won one by now that hasn't. They've been close. The team that played LSU last year could have won one if not for all the injuries and a bad def coord. That team was loaded.

Counting Gene Chizik while he was at Iowa State?
Also, Butch Davis never won a national championship.

And I'm sure there's a joke in here somewhere about richt not winning one, so I'll go ahead and acknowledge that yes we know.

Saban has defeated the following NC winning coaches while at Bama:
Phil Fulmer (1-0)
Gene Chizik (3-1)
Les Miles (5-3)
Mack Brown (1-0)
Urban Meyer (2-1)
Steve Spurrier (1-1)
That's just off top of my head. He's 13-6 against those coaches.

You forgot Sumlin...since the Aggies have already claimed this year's title.

On the othe hand, a coach that wins the National Championship rarely gets beat that year. And most of those in the SEC did not lose in their championship year in the last 13 years.

Thanks. And think about this...
We came an eyelash of winning it in 2012....without injuries we would have had a very good chance in 2013...and (Right now) we are looking good and at least a contender this year. (I realize it is early and a LOOOOONG way to go, not to mention some other VERY good teams in the conference)

Have you seen this weekend's slate of SEC games? This is essentially the offseason. Or if you'd like, we can continue to talk about games from 5 days ago that have already been hashed and rehashed into oblivion.

Most coaches did lose even in their national championship year. Auburn, Tennessee, and Alabama are the only SEC schools to have an undefeated season in the last 30 years

sabin would have never beat a national championship coach if he had not inherited the nations most talented team from denardo and to get them to win all he had to do is fire the countries worst defensive back field coach Tepper But I still cringe at the (easy) games He lost for us,I didn't like him then and I don't like him now I don't mind the gumps having him they deserve to be mistreated by him most of them have probably sold their rings any way !I do wonder if sabin sends a thank you note every year to espn for recruiting for him and to slive for giving him his own referees !
