How many games does Butch have to win this year to not be fired?

Let's face it, UT probably won't have this much talent again for a while, especially on offense.
If they don't win big this year I think the blame will be placed on Butch, probably deservedly so.

I think they throw games on purpose to get Gruden and Manning

Not to be fired? 7 he wont be popular in Knoxville but he will be employed. I think if he loses more than two games its a joke their schedule is pathetically easy.

Butch won't be fired this year. At most he could be put on the hotseat.

They can't afford to fire him, buyout is too big.
He'll get the axe next year.

Well Vegas has it at a 11 win season, so that will dictate a lot. Vol fans are setting that in their minds. The UF>Bama stretch will be something to watch. If UF is a loss then it can start getting ugly.
Losses to UF, UGA, Bama, and he's on a hot seat if he wins on out. Which is pretty bad if you are a Vol fan. At this point the only acceptable loss should be a close last second loss to Bama. All others should be beaten. If he loses those 3, and 1 or 2 others than it'll be interesting.
One thing he has going for him is that Hart is on his side. Hart can get him another year with support if it's just the big 3. Especially with the huge buyout Hart gave Jones. If any others are lost then we'll have to see if Hart starts to back off. Hart's job is dependent on Jones.
With Bama making the SEC boring during the season the Vols are the team to watch like "The Housewives of Hotlanta." No fan base flames out like they do...smfh...The Legion of the Miserable is one of a kind. Ha!
Now with all that said...if they do hit the 10-11 mark they can be back, but depends on who comes back for the following year. Two consecutive years of consistent upper classmen, and watch out bama. The SEC needs the Vols back on top like no other.

Since 2007, the SEC has been more successful, popular, and monetarily valuable than ever before. The Vols have been irrelevant that enrire time. Your statement makes no sense.

(Regular season)
To not be fired after this season? 7
To not have the whole fanbase royally pissed at him? 10

Y'all are just giddy this year. You're less than 3 years removed from the Derek Dooley carnage, and Lane Kiffin before that, and you really feel entitled to a season with more than 8 or 9 wins against possibly the strongest schedule in the nation? Get real.

We don't have a tough schedule. 4 losable games (though they're all in a row) and UT likely will still be favored in at least 2 of them. Plus, the roster really does look good on paper. Barring a severe injury epidemic, it's not unreasonable to expect a 10 win season.
