Too bad we didn't see this version of Jim McElwain. Instead, we saw a guy who coached like a pussy and constantly turtled up in big games against elite competition. Maybe this is a sign Florida will get a different, better version of the Jim McElwain I saw at Alabama.

Remind me again....how many titles have you guys won under Saban without McElwain or Nussmeir?

I have no problem with snatching a players facemask and pulling him in where he see your tonsils.. Gets their attention.

As someone here said, Lou Holtz used to do it regularly.

Not many Florida fans are disagreeing with you we just don't want him to do it regularly or regarding non-discipline issues-- Boom went to that well too often and all it did was make the offense play super tight, too afraid of making a mistake to take the chances necessary to make big plays happen.

There were multiple interviews with players and coaches both those gone and those still in the program about it during the Spring and Summer about how they were so afraid to fail that they never even tried to be great.

Whole team, especially the offense, was playing like an abused dog by the end of the Muschamp era, they'd flinch after every little mess-up.

If people complain about that, they would shite themselves if they went to a military bootcamp.

One is a game. The other is a life and death situation.

After the bull shite we put on the field Saturday, the arse chewing Coach Mac gave KT, and the hell they are going to endure this week...I think you will see a focused team next Saturday. The ECU game will (hopefully) serve as a wake-up call.

Mac was right, and he didn't berate KT as an individual just because he screwed up, he put it in the context of hurting the team. Those 15 yards cost a TD. The cutthroat gesture is pretty much the worse thing you can do during a football game.

I hope the team doesn't revert back to the Muschamp years. That is the challenge Mac has, bad habits are hard to break. The players were saying how the week of practice felt like last year. Mac noticed, and it showed in the field. You stop it right then and there, or the team will not grow.

Go Gators!

I just dont understand the concept or teaching moment here. As a coach, you are mad at your player for losing his composure and costing his team. So how do you respond? By losing your compusure and acting like a complete fool on the sideline. I'm all for getting on a player and discipline, but the complete lunatic reaction he had doesnt help IMHO

Dan Lebatard just got done whining like a little b*tch about it to open his pathetic show on ESPNU.
The same Dan Lebatard who knew all about Nevin Shapiro at da U.

I dont care about it from a "poor poor player standpoint" I just think he looked like an idiot and it was counter productive

My high school coaches make Mac look like a choir boy. Coach Fleet's signature line was "put your fricking helmet on so I can hit you", after which he would hit you as hard as he could with an open palm and try to "slap some fricking sense into your pansy arse". Fleet was the last of the true old school coaches on the team and while he made practice hell on earth he would always get the best out of you.

Florida has a touchy-feely crowd in our fanbase?

I was a big fan of Cowherd and I can't even listen to sports talk anymore (we only have ESPN radio here). LeBatard is the absolute worst show I've ever listened to.

He continued the tirade for longer than was necessary but the kid deserved to be berated.

That type of shite has negatively affected this football team for a long time. He's trying to stop it.
Did he get heated, animated and use "bad" language, yes.

But so has 99.5% of football coaches in America.
We're quickly devolving into a nation of overly sensitive pussies.

McElwain's shortcomings were because of that guy in your username. If Saban has a flaw, it's that he has no idea how to recruit or pick a starting QB.

I would be embarrassed to be a Florida Gator fan. McElwain has clearly lost control of his team and you can easily tell that he cannot handle the stress, pressure and demand of the Florida fanbase.
