Good call, but that's NOT Tyrann Mathieu's stat line, it's someone elses. Try again.

Menzie had a TD as well.
To clarify, no the touchdown doesn't make a difference.

I'm saying he didn't get voted AA because he is not an elite cover guy. Coaches are very traditional creatures. They like players to fit in their perceptions of the position. TM7 doesn't. Has nothing to do with whether he is "great" or not. It may have more to do with "they didn't know what to do with him".
And, to be fair, the drug thing probably cost him.

Here's and interesting comparison.
Menzie - 37 tackles, 3.0 TFL, 1.5 Sacks, 1 INT, 11 Pass BRK UP, 1 FR
Unnamed CB - 29 tackles, 6.5 TFL, 3.5 Sacks, 2 INT, 6 Pass BRK UP, 2 FF, 3 FR, 2 Defensive TD
Anyone got a gander who the Unnamed DB is?
Does this encapsulate our season, or what?

I think what you see with traditional top notch cover guys, is that once the opponents realize who they are... they simply don't get thrown at. And their stats can then be deceivingly low.
Mathieu makes so many plays on someone else's man, or stripping the ball in a gang tackle, or just knowing where the ball is at every second (think Larry Bird), or reading the "tell" of the opposing QB, etc. He does so much MORE than what a traditional CB/DB does. I know its being seen as an insult that he's being overlooked for AA... but he's truly just so head scratchingly puzzlingly awesome... its almost unbelievable.

My question to you, though, is do you consider him to be an elite DB?

it's the coaches vote anyways. i wouldn't be surprised if TM7 was picked for every other All-American team.
he probably got left off because of the suspension. coaches don't like that kind of stuff from a player.
he'll get his due, guys.

Would be the only argument about Menzie, but teams obviously threw the ball at him if he had 11 pass breakups, and still 37 tackles, the majority of them solo. Menzie isn't a playmaker is the issue here, just your run the mill good cover corner. There's a few handfulls of those in CFB.
