In regards to being selected to a All Defense team, that is correct.
PP21 won't be an All Pro CB this year, but he'll be an All Pro Returner...

So forced fumbles and fumble recoveries dont count either?

To be fair, he's not a blanket cover like PP, but he's completely redefining the position of "Ball Hawk". He's an immeasurable freak. There is no traditional slot or mold you can put him in.
Thank you.
Which was my point when I said he wasn't an elite DB. He's a GREAT player, but that isn't a category.
Also, no I never said Menzie should or shouldn't have gotten in.
I did say you can't judge DB's by stats though. The shittier a DB is, the more opportunity he'll have to rack up stats.

Not exactly. There's that goofy "all purpose" position, though.

Honestly, I was a bit surprised to see Menzie make it because I never really remember hearing his name called besides the pick 6 against Arky. However, that's a great thing because that means teams just didn't really go after him.
I think Mathieu should have gotten in somewhere. but, it's hard to give it to him at CB though because he's such a wildcard. He doesn't really have a pure position, he's just a ballhawk.

I think that bastard Nick Saban screwed him by voting him 4th team.
Yep.
I'm not mad. Mathieu is going to use this as motivation. He might cheap shot your whole team.

Not saying I want to see it, nor that he could do it for the whole game... but Mathieu could play both sides of the ball and be a serious impact player on either side.

Don't think anybody thinks he is. Just wondering if he should be considered an All-American CB, which does not require one to be a shut down corner, but considers tackling, sacks, forced fumbles, interceptions, fumble recoveries, etc.

Personally I would have put hayward in over Mathieu and especially over Menzie

Ed Reed and Troy Palumalu are not elite cover guys. Why are they given post season awards?

Bingo. That's all some Bama fans said in the other thread. But, to some of the LSU fans, this equated to "TM7 sucks".

I kinda want JJ to "overthrow" the ball and hit Saban in the head... It would be an awesome gif

Mathieu is not an elite cover corner but the way he impacts games when on the field makes it a moot point, he'll get it next year
Posted on 12/5/11 at 1:00 pm to Y.A. Tittle
quote:Yeah, I think that's dumb too. I guess they didn't want to have to differentiate between kickoff and punt returners.

ETA: Or does that cover all of special teams except punters and kickers?

I'm petitioning to force AFCA to create a "Badass" position on their teams next year. Although they'll have to get rid of it once TM7 graduates...

To be honest, your argument is more "he is not an elite cover corner". However, trying to argue he is not an elite DB is very different and quite impossible to actually do.

"Which trophy is yours?"
"The one that says Bad Motherfricker on it."
