How has State performed after being hyped in the past?

We’ve been here since 2012 but haven’t seen them be media darlings before.
Mizzou typically stinks it up immediately. Hopefully State will do the same and be humiliated under their own bright lights.

2014, 2020 after the LSU win have both occurred since you've been in the league.

State can have early-season success. They've done that on more than one occasion. They just can't close the deal.

Top 10 matchup in Death Valley is something I didn't have on my bingo card coming into the year btw LSU and MS State but I'm here for it!

The last time there was real hype was 2014; State made it to #1 after beating #3 Auburn.
That came crashing down two weeks later when we lost to Bama, then had a miserable showing against Ole Miss in the Egg Bow. They then laid another egg against Georgia Tech in their bowl game.
I of course don't share your hope for my Bulldogs, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I don't know what they are capable of sustaining, and what i've typically seen is the team tends to not jump in the right direction at critical moments in high-stakes games. Maybe this coaching staff and team will this season.
