Notre Dame- the fighting Irish glorified Irish rioters like the ones who lynched blacks during the NYC draft riots

Start over again with real students. Eventually, football will return.

It will look pretty ragged for a while and the dollars will drop but collegiate football is such a great sport it will return.

While NCAA football is not the minor league of the NFL it seems that way.

College baseball operates with a small number of scholarships and it does pretty good.

We will all miss it but we can live without football this year.

I can't respect a slave owner who wrote a song about my country in conjunction with rockets and bombs. The anthem is a relic. Time to go. I would rather hear Doo Wah Diddy Diddy.

What is really close to happening is black athletes overplaying their cards and fans are going to stop supporting programs. There is only so much “woke” a majority republican fanbase is going to have shoveled down their throats until they start fighting back with a much bigger card than these athletes have. The players are much less powerful than they perceive themselves.

I wasn't a history major, but I'm almost sure this isn't right.

Not one Gator fan alive ever saw the chomp cheer as racist.

No one has banned the chomp. Not sure how that started, but Gator Bait is not the chomp. Gator Bait is just one of many cheers done at a UF game.

Admit it, black players have the power.

I'm old enough to remember when college football was segregated. People like you said that they would never watch again if black players were allowed to play for their team. That threat was empty as is yours.

Isn't Gator bait used to catch and kill Gators? You people aren't very smart.

In 1977, Florida State University alum Bill Durham introduced the idea of creating not just a mascot, but a tribute to the tribe the school chose as their nickname. And so Bobby Bowden‘s wife, Ann, helped implement the idea.
Durham went to the Seminole Tribe of Florida tribal council and not only received their blessing on the idea, but their help in creating the regalia that Chief Osceola would wear while riding Renegade. Without the support of the tribe itself, this tradition, along with possibly the university’s use of the team name, would have ended long ago.

The Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma gave the school issues, as well as other groups, but FSU’s received continued support from the tribe in Tallahassee and even from the NCAA after being warned in 2005 about their use of an Indian as a mascot.

Trust me, there's a good portion of Gators that never liked the cheer for that very reason.

I think ticket revenue is as little as 25% of athletic dept. budgets....TV revenue is where the BIG $ comes from !
