And not what has happened on the field.

Why didn’t they move FSU down in the rankings as soon as Travis got hurt? Why did they wait until after the conference championship, but still put them ahead of Georgia and Ohio State? Makes zero sense.

Right! Let’s go back to the days when a poll of sportswriters and a poll of current coaches picked the champion. Sometimes before the bowls, sometimes after.

Because God hates LSU and loves Alabama.

I thought everyone already knew this.

The same way they have committees that picks the participants for the basketball tournaments.

You do realize that in college athletics not all wins are equal don’t you? Just as all losses are not equal.

Is Liberty better than Alabama and Texas? How about Georgia and Ohio State? They surely must be a LOT better than LSU since Liberty is undefeated and LSU has three losses.

The committee stressed that they really wanted to raise the hopes of butthurt Auburn and LSU fans as high as possible, really make them believe Bama was being left out, before crushing them as painfully as possible.

Makes as much sense as any explanation I’ve seen for putting Bama in

And sometimes a shite team gets in over better ones.

There's no perfect system.

Its hard to believe that after well over 100 years this is where we are with college football. A committee of people who claim no bias vote on which teams they think deserve to play for the title.

Its a beauty pageant, pure and simple. We need to cut the regular season down to 10 games, get rid of the patsies, and then play it off between the best 16 teams based on an understandable rating system.

Why not? They had to see what the backup would do. Maybe they wanted to give him a two game sample. Then he got hurt. So then they had to see if the 3rd stringer was going to be another Cardale Jones. Well he wasn’t. They gave the backups every chance to prove FSU would be a viable #4 and they didn’t pass the eyeball test. Sorry.

So we need less football overall, killing all the smaller programs, increasing the power of the current best teams? Why do we need to do this?

So the eyeball test mattered for teams 1-4, but not 5-25? bullshite

What would be an understandable rating system? Something like the BCS, where Bama would rank #3? Would that satisfy everyone?

Nick Saban 2018 after the SECCG: "UGA is one of the 4 best teams in the country. But I can't vote them top 4 because they didn't deserve it. It isn't fair"

Man, I didn’t know Saban was on the playoff committee.

Thank goodness. As much as he talks out both sides of his mouth, we’d never know what the truth is.
