we will hire Brad Stevens.
No doubt he'd be on the list. I'm sure Billy Donovan would be as well

I just don’t see anyone luring Stevens away from the NBA. He was business man before he was a basketball coach and I think he enjoys that front office end of things.
Donovan on the other hand, IMO that could be doable. Third time’s the charm.

I mean he went 4-2 against those coaches listed above. Has he taken a step back in terms of Kentucky’s standard, without a doubt. As much as I hate to say the words next year, this is his ideal class so we’ll see what he’s got in him. Building your team around a 6’9 center that plays below the rim, no matter how good he is, hinders the rest of your team in today’s style of play. This years team also probably only had one nba player on it

The guy was never a brilliant X's and O's guy ... but basketball isn't chess either. Cal was the first guy to embrace one and done, and he didn't over-coach in the beginning ... but he did coach. Yet, his inflexibility has always been an issue. He pissed away his first possible Final Four his very first year - when he decided the three point shot was the only way to attack the West Virginia 1-3-1. He pissed away an undefeated season when he insisted on playing two NBA prospects - the Harrison twins - rather than Tyler Ulis, the best point guard on the team yet a kid too small to go pro.
Something that never gets talked about is the difference between the high school and college three point lines. A foot and a half isn't nothing, and I think freshmen struggle to shoot as a result. Calipari's teams were all built around one and done guys who would struggle shooting in the biggest moments.

Cal has also never been an offensive coach. He specializes in defense. Having Oscar was great but his defense was poor and you couldn’t exactly sit him. Hoping Cal gets us back to an elite defensive team with rim protection, something we haven’t had in a few years

He can't, he is well fed and his best years are behind him.

When I think of Defense I think of Tubby (regular) or Pitino (pressure). Not sure Cal's defense has ever approached either of these two.

I hope KY keeps him for 20 more years. He's perfect fit for KY fans. Cal is as smirk as they are. They both think they are Gods gift to basketball.

Friends with several UK fans and some who work at UK in the athletic department. They don’t care about lottery picks… winning titles and final fours. His time is running out. Ark, Bama, Tennessee aren’t going anywhere. Auburn, Missouri, vandy, and A&M had flashes of good teams. LSU, state, ole miss will always get up for that game. I think it’s time to look for his successor and getting who you want.

They had it before, they had it during you, they'll have it when you're gone.

Cal probably doesn't. But don't write Kentucky off.

What makes you say this ? Forty minutes of basketball where Cal just screams " GO GO GO " from the sideline ?
There is no motion, none, in a Calipari offense. And, curiously, no screens. But they do this thing now and then where it looks like the Globetrotters weaving above the top of the key, dribbling sideways fast and handing the ball off. I have no fricking idea what that is supposed to do ... but sometime, it pleases Calipari.

First by signing a top 5 class for 2023, that has 4- 5 stars and a 4 star

He's had classes like this before. He had John Wall, DeMarcus Cousins, and Eric Bledsoe all in one class. Along with Patrick Patterson - a returning All American. He didn't get to the Final Four with that bunch.
He had Karl Anthony Towns, Devin Booker, and a scattering of other talent ... lost to Wisconsin. He did get a title with Anthony Davis - and returning talent such as dudes named Michael Kid Gilchrist and such.

Is that the motion where you just bob on the John Calipari knob ? Is that the significance of that emoji ?

The underlying point is Cal has always had a stacked deck, he is great at getting top talent, but for the most part it just doesn’t work that way. In his mind it’s about recruiting and to some extent that’s true, but like you point out, it really doesn’t work that way most of,the time. I am sure he is thinking he can sleep walk to the final four next year. He is operating off a 90s model of coaching where talent is everything.

We couldn't guard our grandmothers this year. It wasn't just Oscar. Plus Cal's dumb arse didn't switch up defenses. The only game he did it at Arkansas it worked. So do we do it again . Hell no.
