This. FSU is cheap as shite with their football program and wants to blame Jimbo instead of admitting they don't do the things needed to make the program great.

With that said, A&M sucks. They do spend the money and still can't win.

Which is one thing he won't have to worry about at A&M. I can see why he made the switch there.

Short answer: it's transparently stupid revisionist history.

The last 5 years of Bowden, FSU average 5 losses per season.

Fisher average 2.8 losses per season. Even in his worse three year stretch - the last 3 - he only averaged 4 losses per season. His last season, by far his worst, was really damaged by a broken leg to his starting QB in game one against Bama.

FSU brought in a coach who had a career winning percentage under .500, and the program died. The whole "Jimbo destroyed FSU" narrative is transparently stupid message board shite-posting.

To be completely fair it was a bit of both. FSU wasn't giving him the money he was asking for around facilities and coaching salaries and the cracks were showing. He had some bad luck with a few injuries and recruits that weren't working out and Dabo was running wild with momentum and an open checkbook at Clemson. If you listen to Jimbo one of the things he has continually mentioned is support from the Administration as key to success. I wouldn't be surprised if his divorce also soured him.

He was having his worst season and lots of FSU fans were pissing all over him and that was also grading on him after he had so much success there. Essentially he was being told he needed to win NC's and beat Clemson but wasn't given the tools needed to keep up. A&M came by and gave him everything he wanted and then some and so he left.

FSU then made the problem much worse by hiring Taggert. There was still talent there at FSU and building blocks in place but he blew that up in a hurry and they fell into the abyss. They are starting to climb out slowly now and should be fine but the reality is you are going to have trouble Competing with the big boys if you aren't willing to spend like them and the Admin isn't fully supportive. FSU had basically been punching above its pay grade for a long time and they thought the colors on their jersey and location would make that continue forever.

My recollection is that a lot of this is true, with the caveat that recruiting misses led to huge deficiencies all along the OL and at QB, post Jameis.

I think the OL misses were so bad that they were almost solely responsible for a complete collapse on offense. And that makes sense since he runs a pro style offense.

Again, my recollection. Probably some injuries mixed in there too.

I’ve seen various fans, primarily LSU fans, allude to Jimbo doing FSU dirty after winning the natty. I didn’t follow Jimbo’s exit there enough to know how he destroyed what Bowden built.

That is just a segment of LSU fans that for some reason didn't like Jimbo's offense when he was here. Myself I have always liked Jimbo. No doubt he would be coaching at LSU right now if things had lined up right when we made coaching moves.

is this just sour grapes revisionist history by fans, and FSU was actually in a good position after Jimbo left.

I don't think it is sour grapes or that Jimbo left them in a bad position. He was already having problems with the administration there and their lack of investment and commitment. The cracks in the program were there before they won the Natty. Now the issues are clear.

I'm a Florida fan, so I'd love nothing more than to lay 100% of the blame on FSU. But Jimbo also played his part. With his wife sleeping around on him, he started to behave erratically. He seemed to not be doing his job, especially in recruiting.

Yeah, Taggart was incompetent. Yeah, the FSU AD was stupid to hire him. Yeah, the university should have supported the football program under Jimbo more than they did. But you can't deny Jimbo screwed them more than a little bit.

Dear LORD, that reminds me of the Wally Groff years at A&M. shite facilities and losing assistants left and right.

Really speaks to LSU as a program that they elevated him that much and won a national title.

The only concrete thing they had was talking about how he missed on several QB's but it sounded like the injury to Francois was the real dagger.

He missed on QB's because missed BADLY on O-line recruiting from 2013-2015. No elite QB in his right mind that watched the beating that Francois took we go to FSU and the good QB's that went there didn't stand a chance of succeeding.

To be fair, it's worth noting that FSU has made ZERO progress in re-building their program post Fisher era.

That’s just not true. You’ve either not watched a single down of FSU football in the past three years or don’t know much about football. They’re much better as a team than they were the day Fisher bolted. Hell, they lost three games on the last play this year. In the previous couple of years they weren’t even in shouting distance. They’re not good, but they’re much better.

Dude. The article was by Matt Hayes? the guy that used to follow/cover LSU football?
Not sure that is going to help your case that it is not an LSU thing. That article would have been written after Fisher *supposedly* turned LSU down the first time.

Definitely not sour grapes there.

They went from having a coach that won them a title, and a bunch of 10 win seasons. To hiring a bunch of guys that can't coach

Don't believe me, just ask t.u. 2 peas in a pod
