So Alabama has more five stars than Louisiana over the last ten years? That’s surprising.

Jumped at me as well. And while everyone knows GA has talent, I found their numbers astonishing. 10 years is the exact timeframe I’d use to even out anomalous years while keeping it recent enough to reflect the current environment. That said home state matters a hell of a lot less now than it used to. What a great graphic (assuming it’s real).

I wonder why Kentucky struggles at football compared to the rest of the South

Kentucky is almost 90% white. We depend on Ohio, Indiana and Pennsylvania for a lot of our recruits..

SEC champ game started in 1992, and that is what i'm referring to. You thought referencing a 60 yr old, pre integration, conference title was going to make a splash here?

You know Oklahoma has more conference titles in their history than everyone else right? Double most schools.

Short of anomaly related down turns by the big 2-3 at any given time, they just don't have the horses or coaches.

It's more of the powerhouses shooting themselves in the foot than anything the mid level teams can do.

Unbelievable a state as populous as NY has produced fewer than Indiana, Missouri, etc.

Doubt that has always been the case, but the reign of terror inflicted by Hokul DeBlasio et al in recent years has sent the families that tend to produce motivated self-starting athletes to the red states.

Alabama has 34 conference championships when you count the four Southern Conference titles they captured in 1924, 1925, 1926, and 1930.

Crazy that 1-2 on that list won’t win another between them over the next 20 years.

Longer than that.

Just goes to show how weak the Big 8 and Southwest conferences were back in the day.

Not really. When 10 million people live on top of one another in a small area of concrete jungle it’s kinda hard to play football.

And then when you get away from the concrete jungle the overwhelming percentage of population is white, you aren’t going to produce many 5 star football players.

Ha. You stole my two points before i could get them out. Anyone who has been up there knows the little greenspace in NYC gets allocated to other uses. I remember seeing where they had to renovate some airplane hangars to create some football practice space for some schools. There are probably some old industrial areas they could use but I don't think there is the will to put money into football. It isn't a cultural priority.

The SWC was weaker in 80s but certainly not weak in the previous decades.
