Not sure I'd call it a bye. But, if they lose a close one to Clemson, aTm loses to AU, Tulsa beats Cincy, and Bama beats UF they are a playoff lock at #4.

A real bye would be if Clemson loses again, aTm loses to AU, and Bama beats UF. tOSU plays ND in semis and Bama draws Cincy most likely (assuming Cincy gets past Tulsa)

ND vs Bama would be another reason to never let ND in a playoff again. It's a waste of a spot.

if Clemson wins but doesn't blow out Notre Dame it's a near lock that Notre Dame will be the #4 team.

Actually, Alabama vs Notre Dame would probably get more viewers than the other game considering they are the top 2 title winning teams in the history of college football. Everybody knows that the bottom line is always money, and more viewers to view more commercials to buy more crap = more money.

edit: Well, Princeton did win a ton of titles back in the 1800s but I don't think they'll be in the playoffs

Yeah this won’t be Alabama just running through a ND defense. They’re a good team.

A 1 loss ND vs a 1 loss Texas A&M for the fourth playoff spot would be an interesting debate for the committee.

Aggie should have the advantage in that scenario considering who they lost to.

Aggie didn't just lose to Alabama, they were destroyed. And Notre Dame's only loss would be to a Clemson team that would have Lawrence back. If Notre Dame is destroyed in the rematch, I guess its a question. But, the telling factor would have to be that Notre Dame has a really good QB, and A&M has Kellen Mond.
