The NBA has zero defense and college basketball has zero offense. College basketball is definitely more of a train wreck though.

The Grizzlies and Pacers are both p damn good defensively.
Last season featured two all-time great defensive teams (the Celtics and Bulls).
Maybe you're just watching the wrong teams.

I love college basketball, especially when March Madness rolls around.
And the NBA can be entertaining. Depends.

I'll watch a lot of college basketball in March.
NBA I'll watch if the Bulls are in the playoffs.

I love when people cite "the one-and-dones" as the reason why college basketball has been declining.
There were a grand total of TEN freshmen that left early. In 2011, there were only NINE.
Division I basketball has more than 300 teams. I know that some of them are absolutely terrible, but still 10 players leaving after their freshman years is not the problem. The NBA might be the problem, but it's the impression it leaves on youth players and how it impacts their games in a negative way, not because of its draft rules. That and (similarly related, but different) the way the AAU circuit works.
BTW, I should also add since Garnett made the jump in 1995 out of HS until the final HS class in 2005, 39 high schoolers were selected in the NBA draft over 11 years. That's an average of 3.5 players a season. Again, the "one and done" rule means basically nothing for college basketball.

Basketball is a great sport, probably the most entertaining team sport out there IMO the quality is college has declined a bit, because of early exits to the NBA.
However, I rather watch a college game live rather than an NBA one, any day of the week and twice on Sat. Regular season NBA the players don't give a chit. I love the emotion of the college game, specially during the tournament. Nothing like it- nothing.

Watch a team like Butler or Creighton play, the SEC sucks. College basketball is still great to watch. Can't believe there are people that can sit and watch glorified high school baseball over CBB.

Completely disagree. The NBA is a vastly superior product and the quality of play is at its highest peak since the late '80s. College basketball has been complete dogshit since the late '90s.

College basketball is fine, as long as you're watching good teams. Watching mediocre teams (everyone in the SEC besides UF) will frustrate the crap out of you, but that's the way it's always been. Bad teams are bad teams, regardless of what era they're playing in.

I think that's why this thread was created.

Not really. Actually, NBA defenses have come a long way since the '80s. The NBA used to be a lot more wide open and primitive defensively. The '90s and early '00s was low-scoring but that had more due to bad offense than it did with great defense. I would much rather watch the likes of Lebron, CP3, Durant, Carmelo, Kobe, Wade, Dirk, and a healthy Derrick Rose play than anything in college basketball right now.

Actually the good teams play great defense. Miami won the title last year due to their defensive pressure on KD, Westbrook, and Harden.
Teams like the Lakers don't guard anybody and that's why they suck.

Disagree completely. Im a huge Bulls fan. I watch that team play GREAT sound, fundamental defense every night.
Thibs has those guys playing hard without Rose.
If any of you wanna watch basketball with basic fundamentals and true team play, watch the Bulls play.

agreed. Haven't really enjoyed the sport going back to the mid 90's. Too many one and dones...

"One and done? has completely, totally ruined the sport. When you cannot hang onto players for more than a few years, you cannot possibly implement a team system at any fundamental level. Whether the NBA gurus want to admit it or not, but it has hurt their product as well. There is no development. Street ballers in, street baller out. :beatdeadhorse:

The NBA either needs to take kids 3 years out of HS, or take them straight out of HS. It was so much better before the one-and-dones
I would go with both which I've said for years. Adopt the baseball rule. Let them go straight out of high school if they want. If another Lebron type player is ready out of high school no reason to make him play a year of college ball and risk all of that money by getting hurt. That being said, if a player enrolled in college he's there for 3 years minimum. That would help a lot. It wouldn't fix it but it would help the game.
