I'm gonna be laughing hard and ragging your arse come seasons end. With all the shite talking you have done it is going to be so nice watching you squirm as the hogs take LSU's place as a top team in the West.

I would rather start off ranked a little lower because it simply gives the team more motivation and they don't necessarily have such a big target on their back. However, the higher ranking helps in the long run if you lose a game or two, you can still end up higher in the rankings and a shot at the BCS and/or national title game.
What a don't like is when prognosticators look at the schedule and rank you lower because you have a tough schedule and will probably drop a few games. To me, if you play tougher competition, you deserve the higher ranking preseason in case you do drop a game or two to stiffer competition. Alternatively, if you have a weaker schedule, prognosticators use that to rank you higher. See Oklahoma for example.

This is what I attribute our lower than expected (by Arkansas fans I mean) preseason ranking to more than anything else.
They look at us having to play both Bama and LSU on the road and with how good they expect those two teams to be and automatically saddle us with two losses. Then, we have USC-E, MSU and Auburn (all three preseason top 25 teams) at our place and they see the real possibility for a third loss.
Hey, prior to CBP arriving we hadn't accomplished shite that makes us deserve National respect prior to the start of the season, BUT CBP and the players are working to change that and I firmly believe that in the not to distant future we will be considered a true SEC power, but for now at least we are still in the earning it stage.

I don't mind the spot we're in to start. We've got 3 cupcakes and should be around #9-10 going into the Bama game depending on how the first 3 weeks shake out.
If we don't beat Bama then it doesn't really matter for awhile anyways. If we do I suspect we'll be top 4-5 after that game and in good shape to make a run.

You must not have looked at 0U's schedule.
@#5 FSU
@#8 oSu
#9 Texas A&M
#21 Mizzou
#23 UTa in Dallas

But to be honest I would have personally flipped Ok St and Arkansas.

I don't think many are impressed w/ the Big XII this season and many feel FSU at #5 is way too high...

That's fine if you think the XII is overranked. But to call 0Us schedule easy is asinine. Horrible example to prove his point.

Texas and Mizzou should not be ranked. oSu is WAY too high.

It's not just my thinking...watching numerous shows and reports of teams across the country.
I think OSU and Mizzou are overrated...

Whoa, slow down there killer. I agree with all you piggies that you are a top 10 team, talent-wise. But it still cracks me up that you all think this great big LSU demise is on the horizon and the hogs will take their rightful place at the throne.

Same a lot of folks could say about UGA and UF even being ranked.

I think UTa should not be ranked. I think oSu should be around #12 and Mizzou is just right IMO.
0U's schedule is plenty tough IMO. They could have not scheduled FSU and cake walked to being undefeated. I respect that 0U always plays a tough non-conf slate

That is kinda the wrong the to say. He should have said "Preseason rankings don't matter, blah, blah blah, we have to earn it, blah blah blah"
He kinda sounds like a whiny bitch.
