I keep seeing USC repeated as national champion in 2003.

I'm so confused.

oh, you must be from the west coast that values media opinions over actual football played on the field. i see where the confusion is, no worries.

We don’t have less titles, we have more wins, we have more SEC titles, we have better winning percentage. Pretty simple

No one counts Georgia’s claimed ‘42 title. Georgia has 3 and LSU has 4.

If Georgia’s counts the 42 title then LSU can count the 1908 title which gives LSU 5 titles.

Didn't realize UGA claimed 1942. That's a weak claim. Glad LSU hasn't gone back and retroactively won a championship 40 years after the fact

Hard False, UGA was the consensus National Champion in 1942. They won the the defacto NC game Rose Bowl, had the Heisman trophy winner and were awarded NC by 2/3 of the recognized polls. 2/3 of the polls think 42 counts. The AP was 6 years old…and for that matter if you are using that metric 2003 LSU didnt win the AP poll. The AP is not the arbiter of National Champions

I'd say Bama is #1.

LSU and Georgia are pretty much even now.

I agree that we have both surpassed Tennessee.

If the only knock on 42 is the AP poll, LSU didn’t win the AP poll in 2003. UGA only counts consensus NC’s. They could count 20, 27, and 46 when they were the only undefeated untied NC.

The reality is UGA and LSU won the majority of polls 4 times each.

Georgia was the Consensus NC in 1942, they won the majority of polls, had the Heisman winner and won the Rose Bowl. My uncles have tons of merchandise with UGA 1942 NC on it

This is the same thing as our 1936 championship. We didn't finish #1 in the AP, but did in tons of others.

We do not claim it.

Except the AP was the primary determinant of a national championship in 1942.

In 2003, the BCS was the primary determinant of a national championship.

You don't get to take away a legit natty from LSU in 2003 just because Georgia's 1942 claim is as flimsy as half of Alabama's claims.

No offense intended my friend, but it’s not the Same, Ohio State won the AP by 50 votes and no other poll. UGA won in the other 8 polls most of whom predated the AP. LSU’s 36 claim is more like UGA’s 27 NC which UGA does not claim. UGA also doesn’t claim 1946 because they only were selected NC by 2 polls even though they were the only undefeated untied team in the country at 11-0 while ND and Army were both 9-0-1.

UGA only claims consensus….42, 80, 21, 22

Absofrickinlutely NOT. You LOST your bowl game against Santa Clara. We WON our bowl game against undefeated UCLA.

No The AP wasn’t the primary determinant in 1942. It became that into the 60’s when many of the earlier polls went away, the AP was only 6 years old in 42. Georgia won the overwhelming number of NC voting in 42 by polls that predated the AP. They had a better record than OSU, beat more ranked teams, had the heisman winner, and won the rose bowl which was the NC game for the first 60 years of CFB.

Ga has traditionally played the weakest SEC schedule over the years. They’ve rarely played Ala, LSU or Tenn(before division play).
