Fred Charles Thomsen (April 25, 1897 – January 7, 1986) was an American football player and coach. From 1929 to 1941, he was the head football coach at the University of Arkansas, compiling a record of 56–61–10.
No wonder I didn’t know who he was, A bit before my time but his record speaks for itself…haha.
Nutt is on the list for being competitive in the SEC while he was here.

Croom just makes no sense except for the non performance related historical impact. Bellard ended Bama's longest winning streak in history. Bob Tyler had some good seasons before him.
Of the 3, which one inherited the worst situation to work under to start with?

I don't know how you view your program, but coaching less than ten years, leaving after an embarrassing situation with the program wouldn't be who I would want to crown as my best coach.
Jackie Sherrill took over a floundering program and turned them in to a team that bullied the longhorns five years in a row.
And embarrassed about what? A longhorn snitch journalist turning him in for paying players? WTF are you even SEC?
You think Marc Richt and every other SEC Coach didn't pay players?

LSU 1. Les Miles 2. Nick Saban
Confirmed Chat GPT is dumb
Edit: I got a downvote, lol
Does anyone actually think Les Miles was a better coach than Nick Saban? If so, you’re dumb to. This seems obvious

Best thing about RC: He dominated both LSU and Texas.

Darrell Royal was a great coach for Texas, just mixed results at MSU, but definitely better than croom.

That's so gay to downvote...like really gay...like A@M gay.
Tech is cool and he gave credit. Personally, I use the shite out of AI but I always give a shout out.
AI is efficient..only morons of the highest caliber would hate it.

I'm pretty sure Mark Richt didn't. Can't speak for Marc. Don't know who that is.

Was Spurrier a better coach than Meyer?
In any kind of measurable way, no.
Don't think you understand how this works, Legend.

Ouch. A lot of schools have very small benches.

Mississippi State
At first I thought having Leach at #5 seemed criminal, but I looked up all State’s coaching records and a couple others do have a valid case for being above him. I loved Leach but he was only .528 (19-17) in 3 seasons at State. Sylvester Croom on here is downright scary. A .250 conference record makes him one of the top 5 coaches in school history. Yikes!

Texas A&M
Again…weird to see Bear as the “fifth best coach”. RC has the best winning percentage so putting him at the top makes sense. Aggies love Sherrill because he gave us success in the SWC that lasted years, but he got his hand caught in the cookie jar. That’s probably a pretty accurate list.

Lincoln Riley was gifted a team from Stoops and diminished it year by year. Lincoln belongs on the list of worst head coaches
Lincoln is a good OC but that is his ceiling
Here is irony concerning Lincoln Riley at OU.
Lincoln Riley is the winningest coach (percentage wise) in OU history. And he likely always will be.
And what is more mind blowing than that is that among modern era D1 football coaches (careers after WWII).... Wilkinson, Switzer and Stoops are all top 10 in winning percentage...

Ok, so you say you are putting out an AI list and now you say it was your mistake. What exactly was the mistake, that you made copying an AI list.
This should be good.
You must work for the main stream media.

Op any list that doesn't have Jackie Sherrill as best Coach ever at Texas A&M is a shite list.
RC is ten times a better man than Jackie. And a damned good defensive coach.

bullshite alarm just went off. I know the name Jackie Sherrill automatically triggers any longhorn. The only thing Jackie did was give some mostly disadvantaged young players some spending money while they were in college.

Bottom line on RC Slocum - A&M brass didn't listen to him about the facilities arm race that was really starting to boom.
If they had invested in him and the program as a whole more he would have kept winning a lot of football games.
He got out-recruited at the turn of the century for causes he was aware of. The big money Ags didn't listen to him.
