South Carolina is deeply rooted in Southern hospitality and class. Look no further than the Cockaboose Railroad. Fans can rent out these luxury street cars for pre-game and in-game festivities. Each car is equipped with televisions, a full bar, and food. What other location offers such an awesome alternative to the typical tailgating experience? There are more than 20 of these bad boys available for use.
Cockabooses are generally NOT available for rent. You gotta know someone or talk your way in. They are privately owned-basically condominiums. The Cockaboose Association owns the track and maintains the exterior. We own the caboose and are responsible for the interior. We pay rent for the track and annual dues.
It is an amazing way to tailgate. Better than anything else but is a small part of the overall tailgate scene. Other tailgating is pretty awesome especially with Gamecock park. It’s different because campus is a mile or two from the stadium.

Love going to Starkvegas.
University Golf Course is nice and the horse park is outstanding for RV’s. Saturday night game in Davis Wade is always fun.

It’s LSU #1 and everyone else a distant 2nd. Yes, I know I’m a LSU fan, however, I have been to a game at every single SEC stadium (including the newbies Texas & OU) except Missouri. I’ve been to numerous SEC games at Ole Miss, State, Auburn, Alabama, Florida, and Arkansas.
No one comes close to the level of preparation, variation of dishes, the exquisite cooking, and overall spreads as LSU. It’s not even close.

My gripe with the Grove is it feels like a shoebox.
That's why it's #5 for me.

WASHINGTON.........
Though Tennessee has a beautiful setting, the University of Washington takes it to a whole different level. The newly minted light rail takes fans directly to the front of Husky Stadium. There's also the option of conventionally driving to the game. However, "sailgating" -- as locals call it -- is the best way to do it up in the Pacific Northwest. On the east side of the stadium, people tailgate on multi-million dollar yachts. During the months of August and September, fans will not only be drinking on the boat but also in the ocean. As for the preferred beverage of choice, it really depends on the season. Tequila is a staple for all UW fans (of drinking age) -- though colder weather also dictates the consumption of a host of local craft beers. Simply put, there's no other tailgating scene as aesthetically pretty as this one.

My comment: I've been to both Tennessee & Washington tailgates.......both are impressive; however, Washington beats Tennessee handily, believe it or not. The surrounding scenery, etc., alone is enough to beat almost any school. In fact, I would've put them at #3 and put Wisconsin back to #5.
UCLA.........
UCLA isn't known for having crazy fans -- largely because its home stadium is roughly 45 minutes from campus (depending on traffic). With that said, there's not a more iconic setting in all of college football than the Rose Bowl. For tailgating purposes, it's even more brilliant -- as fans get to tailgate on a literal golf course. Spanning multiple makeshift lots, the tailgating region on the golf course is over a mile in area. With perpetually perfect weather, and the San Gabriel Mountains acting as a tremendous backdrop, the Rose Bowl is a fantastic tailgating location.

My comment: There is no more iconic athletic venue in the nation than the Rose Bowl. The gorgeous surrounding area, perfect weather to go with it.....no place in the USA compares. One doesn't need to be around water to enjoy this!! I would've put UCLA at #2 and pushed LSU back to #4 behind Washington.

They're not in the same solar system as the SEC, nor is any other Big Ten school

A&M’s tailgating is more wide spread all over campus. There’s not a specific tailgating spot that everybody is at but the popular spots is the Aggie Park and around Reed Arena.

trash list.
Went to a texas game and didn’t see a single tailgate.

tu’s tailgating is dog shite. Only very recently have they opened up just tiny areas. They have no infrastructure for it. Dirty 6th used to be fun 15 years ago before the heroin needles and feces but that’s not tailgating lolz.

Keep in mind our biggest game every year happens at a neutral site so we both miss out on what would be a prime tailgating event.
You haven't been doing it right. I've been going to the Tx-OU game for several years in a row. We go to the same corner in the same parking lot every year and have a great time. My daughter was about 6 weeks old at the 2022 game and was her first tailgate. There's a bunch of Texas and Oklahoma fans we meet up with that we cook with, play beer pong and corn hole with, and we've all got plenty of full coolers.

It's completely commercialized. They pay people to set it up and take it down. Same white tents, chairs, a TV, a couple of coolers, and some catered food. Expensive, and makes the people at them not very hospitable or welcoming. There's very little authentic tailgating at UTx. My best experiences tailgating with Texas fans has been at the state fair.

You completely missed the point. We are talking home tailgates and what I said is our biggest annual game is at neutral site so we and tx miss out having a home/home tailgate. So we lose the best opportunity to have a big home tailgate
The fair environment is top notch, thats a given. It’s about home tailgates because it’s a new experience for all visiting teams. We are trying to improve our home tailgates since SEC travel better and have more/better tradition than B12.

I see your point about home tailgating, but see my other post about Texas. I think Texas fans are way more fun in Dallas than in Austin. Hell, I've had more fun at West Virginia and aTm tailgates in Austin than I ever had with Texas fans in Austin.
I haven't been to Norman, but I have a lot of love for the OU fans I've traded beer and food with in Dallas. I've been to a couple Alamo Bowls OU played in and had good times there, as well.
Austin being on the list is laughable. Being #15 is terrible journalism.
