Herbstriet has nothing to do with Alabama or its fan base towel boy.

the rest of us just want a fair game

and by fair, you mean a winnable game for bama.

You can't have 12 men out there and not get called for it

Sure we can...you're a bama fan so i know you watched our game last week.

The refs have to be able to keep up.

Yes, because before you guys started crying about the evolution (sorry to use a word you no doubt find to be heresy) of football the refs caught everything.

Or do what KSU did to 'em and have a solid FG kicker on your sideline.

Good luck with that.

Why are Alabama fans such wusses about this Maybe y'all should adjust your defensive strategy instead of crying for a rule change

Hire competent officials to do their jobs correctly is what I say. Anyone can make a mistake in judgment. However not observing player numbers or counting the players on the field has nothing to do with poor judgment. Unless you believe someone chooses to overlook those violations...hmmm.

Gimmick offenses are the only way those teams can narrow the talent gap. It is a good strategy. The defense will catch up.

I read many times on here that the defenses had Malzahn's offense figured out and Auburn wouldn't have the same advantage this year. So now more time is needed?

ARE YOU SAYING THAT THE SEC HEADQUARTERS IS IN BIRMINGHAM, RANDY? ARE YOU SAYING THAT ALABAMA AND AUBURN PAY THE REFS, RANDY?

Many old school guys do not like the massive substitutions and specialist in today's game, especially on defense. Because of the changes in defensive strategy, offenses had to adapt.

I like the rule of only allowing one player from each team to sub. That would keep 12 men off the field.

Is this shite really getting talked about again?
Doesn't need to have a new rule but the coaches should not be allowed to influence the pace of the refs spotting the ball and getting in position to call the play by ranting and raving on the sidelines to get them to hurry up. Should get a sidelines warning and then a PA flag.

Also, add an additional ref or two, the SEC has the money.

Bama plays fast at times this year and has been effective when playing up tempo.

Pretty sure the "financial reasons" no longer exist.

So please indicate how football was intended to be played vis-à-vis substitutions:

SUBSTITUTIONS:

1876--Fifteen players to a team and few if any substitutions.
1882--Replacements for disqualified or injured players.
1897--Substitutes may enter game at any time at discretion of captains.
1922--Players withdrawn during the first half may not return until the second
half. Players withdrawn during the second half may not return to
the game.
1941--Players may substitute at any time but may not be withdrawn or the
outgoing player returned until at least one play has intervened.
"Platoon" football made possible.
1948--Unlimited substitution on change of team possession.
1953--Two-platoon abolished and players allowed to enter game only once in
each quarter
1954-64--Changes each year toward more liberalized substitution and platoon
football.
1965--Platoon football returns. Unlimited substitutions between periods and
after a score.
1974--Substitutes must be in for one play and replaced players out for one
play.
1993--Players who are bleeding or whose uniforms are saturated with blood
must come out of the game until their return has been approved by
medical personnel.

There should be a penalty anytime a coach tries to influence the refs.
