Nah, Burruhoh hasn't faced a secondary as good as Duke's.

I mean, he's played against the 120th and 127th pass defenses.

And Tua and Burrow have?

Pass defense rankings from 2019 (2018 rankings in parenthesis):
Hurts - 111th (124th) / FCS (FCS)
Burrow - 120th (56th) / 127th (110th)
Tua - 85th (36th) / 125th (43rd)

Passing yards given up in games not against Heisman hopefuls:
Hurts:
South Dakota - 427 yards to Montana
Houston - 248 yards to Prairie View

Burrow:
GA Southern - 307 yards to Maine
Texas - 340 yards to LA Tech

Tua:
Duke - 111 yards to NC A&T
NM State - 507 yards to Washington State

Of course, it is WAY too early to build any solid conclusions. If the teams are more or less intact from last year, then the best pass defense is Duke's. South Dakota and Georgia Southern gave up 300+ passing yards to FCS schools, and NM State gave up a crap ton of yards to Washington State (who admittedly threw it a lot, but still ended up with over 10 yards per attempt so why would they not?)

Texas' pass defense was hot garbage last year, 110th in FBS. Texas' pass defense SHOULD be better with their talent, but clearly they are not. They had 4 games where the pass defense performed well - those were against the 98th, 58th, 116th and 109th passing offenses.

Skrayper is actually trying to sell Duke as a quality opponent.

You think there’s a chance that, maybe, Duke playing in the ACC and Texas playing in the Big 12 artificially effects those numbers?

Additionally, Texas has a more high powered offense so teams will be more aggressively on offense against them and throw more to keep up.

It’s always laughable when CFB fans use only raw numbers to compare teams offense/defense when level of competition and style of offense can vary so drastically from conference to conference and team to team. It really is almost impossible to compare and make a determination solely on numbers.

Uh oh, you triggered the Bama masses. Anytime an LSU player is mentioned in the same conversation as a Bama player they get triggered

You bouncing back and forth between seasons to cherrypick stats to prove something insignificant in a week 2 Heisman leaderboard is high comedy

Burrow has gone against an FCS-caliber pass defense, and Georgia Southern's.

I mean, does it really matter at this point? He faced a defense as good as any other names on the list. A good quarterback takes what the defense gives him. He had 3 receivers over 100yds each. I would think he reads his progressions well even under pressure.

This is the hill you’re gonna die on? A division 1 team playing against NC A&T?

I did the same thing for every team. I even said it was too early for any solid conclusions.

Do you guys just skim, figure out what narrative fits your mindset best, and then start screaming instead of reading the entire post?

I didn't cherry pick anything. What other numbers would you like?
