Not sure of your budget, but Bottega (Italian), Oak House (steak/fish), and Chuck’s Fish (seafood) are all good.

Good choice, but that’s not in Cahaba Heights.

Hoover is pretty much just a bunch of chains.
With that said, there are a handful of good local spots
Ragtime Cafe- a little bit of everything. It’s excellent.
Tre Luna- Italian; probably the nicest place close to the stadium
Tortuga’s- Deep dish pizza
Bawarchi- very good Indian food
Baha Burger- great order-at-the-counter burger joint
All of the above are relatively close to the stadium. If you want a good chain restaurant, Firebirds and J Alexander’s are both excellent.
If you want to venture a bit further away and closer to Birmingham, I’d recommend Helen, Hot ‘n Hot Fish Club, Bayonet, Armour House, Little Betty, Chez fon fon…. All are excellent but on the pricier side.

If I never see another chik fil a that will be too soon. Wife loves it. Chicken on a bun. It’s fine if traveling or in a hurry.

Saws BBQ might be a decent place to go. Went to the Homewood site last time I was in Bham
