According to this same 24/7 talent ranking, Clemson was the 5th most talented team this season and Oklahoma was the 7th most talented.

That alone is proof there are some flaws in their methodology.

6 teams met this criteria in 2024, per 247 Sports, and 5 of them made the CFP. It's all about the talent.

I would guesstimate if this ^^^ is true it eliminates +95% of P5 schools every year of competing for a national title.

Talent alone doesn't make a great team. Chemistry, locker room, buy in by the players, coaching, etc. goes a long way into taking great talent and making it work on the field.

Is it? Here is where LSU ranked each year since 2019 on 24/7’s talent composite:

2020: #6
2021: #5
2022: #8
2023: #7
2024: #8

Here is what all that talent has gotten LSU.

Three winning seasons. A 40-23 record. One SEC west title. Zero playoff appearances.

Your two best teams, according to 24/7, were the 2020 and 2021 teams. They went a combined 11-12.

So what do you think is more flawed? LSU coaching? The 24/7 talent composite? You?

Brian Kelly is certainly doing a great job of slowly killing off all hope within the LSU fanbase.

It's almost like that coach should be fired or something.

Notice how that dropped off some after 2020-2021. And shows how much Ed really squandered at the end of his tenure here.

Doesnt look like much until you realize the conference we play in that puts us 4th even 5th now. We've won 10 games each of those years, so I wouldnt say there's been mass underachievement the last few years by any shape of the imagination. Who you play definitely matters. We've been in the process of trying to shape up the roster to compare better with the best teams out there because unfortunately we usually play a handful of them. This is the first offseason we've actually hit the portal well and not just grabbed mostly questionable or meh players.

Also the total team talent thing might be slightly flawed now in the sense they dont use updated transfer ratings for players who transfer in, just their original high school rating...which if you're going to re-rate them when they transfer why use the original instead of the new rating? Doesnt make much sense there.

In your first post you said:

quote:

It's all about the talent.

If it is all about talent it doesn’t matter who the coach was.

Either that or you just torpedoed your own thread.

Nah, y’all don’t want to admit it, but he’s slowly instilling fear and doubt into you bandwagon Bama fans.

I’ll just go ahead and say it right now: Alabama will never win a national championship with DeBoer as head coach

Welcome new member BuckeyeWarrior!

I am interested to hear about your garden and your shooting range. Perhaps you would like to tell me about them?
