I know someone who claims he gives players for an SEC school smalltime handshake money. Guys who are already at the school. Closest I know of.

I also took a beer out of the hand of an alltime OM great QB when a bunch of cops walked into a bar and everyone knew he was underage.

The first girl I dated at LSU, her father wanted to be a booster really bad or some shite. He is a New Orleans lawyer fwiw. Anyway, we are on at the West Campus Apartments parking lot and he sees a few players and calls them over to his Porsche. He starts talking shop and compliments them on the last game they had, I believe it was 2011 Auburn. He then hands them each a 100 and tells them, "Keep the good work up, oh and my daughter lives here so keep an eye out for her" and talks about how he will email Coach Miles and how he's part of the gridiron club so Miles will really like to hear good news about how nice his players are off the field. Any time he would see them he would repeat this. It just felt creepy.

I've smoked with a few Bama and LSU players, all former

this. used to be called the "matchbox" hand shake because a c-note was folded and put into the box. it has been going on for decades. they used to have "functions" where the boosters met with the players and handshakes were plentiful. they probably have to use different methods these days.

Yes. Once while working a Black Friday sale at my dad's store in University Mall, I personally allowed Robert Lester to use the Employees Only bathroom when he asked if he could go. I probably wouldn't have agreed were he not an Alabama football player

The sophistication and subtlety now is what keeps most teams from getting caught. All teams cheat at some level. Every. Single. One. Including yours. Including mine. What got OM in trouble is going above and beyond and being sloppy.

One of the things I've heard of at a couple of places over the years is having players go to a place of business (usually clothing store or shoe store) and pick out whatever they want. They go to counter and say something like "I'm gonna check out a couple of other stores. Can you hold this for me behind counter and I'll come back to get it later? My name is X (never real name)". Then later someone else comes in, usually after a shift change, and says "you're holding something for me. My name is X" and pays for it. Gives to player later.

Mostly it isn't the school doing it, but people with some level of connection. One of OM's issues was school knowing/being involved.

It wasn't part of the deal.Like I said the offer was being able to "use" the car for his time at Auburn plus he was friends with guy's father (a big AU booster) who owned the Chevrolet dealership.

Kinda suprised at all the folks on here that claim to be "insiders" and "know people" have either idiotic smart-arse answers or next to nothing.

But EVERYBODY says ALL the schools do it.Must not be as rampant as all those "insiders"
say it is.

I met a few Vandy athletes in college, and while I can't prove he was unqualified, I did hear one guy use a tertiary subjunctive with a predicate nominative gerund in a manner that suggested he might be faking his way through school and possible barely even knew the Latinate origins of the case.

I still feel guilty to this day for not reporting him to Compliance.

Well, lemme put it this way, if I had first hand knowledge of some egregious recruiting tactics at Tennessee (not saying I do or do not), I sure as frick wouldn't tell this board about it.
